2. MPEG-7 Visual XM software part 6

During the opening plenary, findings reported by the MPEG-7 Visual AHG were briefly discussed. It was agreed that a defect report on conformance should be issued, after detecting that the new XM software (due to update of external libraries used) is no longer able to match with the conformance of image signature descriptor. Further study is necessary to identify whether potentially a bug in the technology description of part 3 exists, i.e. whether the extraction process is described with sufficient precision, or if it is sufficient to relax the rigidity of conformance tests.

Further dicscussions on this were held in the BoG chaired by Stavros Paschalakis and Miroslaw Bober.

1.1.1.1.1.1.1.1.28m36822 Proposed Conformance Testing for ISO/IEC 15938-3:2002/Amd 3:2009: Image signature tools [Karol Wnukowicz, Stavros Paschalakis, Miroslaw Bober]

M36822 proposed new conformance testing conditions for the Image Signature tools, to address the conformance testing failure reported in the 111^th MPEG meeting. The new conditions follow a similar approach to the one used in CDVS.

The Video group, upon recomendation of the BoG, decided to issue a defect report for ISO/IEC 15938-7:2003/Amd 5:2010: Conformance testing for image signature tools at the 112th meeting (N15369).

The BoG also recommeded to investigate the matching performance of the Image Signature Tools using the "reference" and "test" implementations used in M36822, to check is the standard describes the extraction process with sufficient precision, before deciding to proceed with a DCOR on conformance testing. This study will be done in the subsequent AHG period.

Furthermore, the DIS of the second edition of reference software was issued (N15368).
