The Digital Entertainment Content Ecosystem consortium tries to push its UltraViolet specification which allows users to buy contents once and have it delivered over the Internet to a multitude of registered devices. For streaming of MP4 files, this organization is interested to have a low complexity DASH profile defined which also supports encryption. For download, a new profile based on the mp4 file format is desirable.
5MPEG-H
Video material containing computer graphics content like cartoons, captures of typical computer screens or video with text overlay or news ticker is called screen content. This screen content was identified as an important category of video signals relevant to MPEG-H. Consequently, a new requirements document was issued: N11872 Vision, Applications and Requirements for High Efficiency Video Coding (HEVC). Efficient coding of screen content may require some additional coding tools. However, implementation complexity is considered and a new codec for this content is not desirable.
