Advanced user interfaces may include motion, touch and multi touch interfaces. MPEG-U Part 2 should support these interfaces as well as semantic information that the user may wish to convey. The documents N11836 Rich Media UI framework Requirements and N11837 Context and Objectives of Advanced User Interaction Interfaces reflect the changes.

The test procedure including instructions of subjects, evaluation of subjects and selection of displays needs further refinement. The current plan foresees the use of 2D displays to show just one view. This is due to the high crosstalk between views of stereoscopic displays that are commonly available. Autostereoscopic displays are also not of sufficient quality yet. 11 test sequences are available now. A first run of subjective tests to evaluate the procedure will be done at the next meeting.
A draft CfP was issued at this meeting. The final CfP will be published at the 96th meeting. Evaluation is planned to be carried out prior to the 98th meeting. The call will be open to all technologies including AVC, MVC, HEVC and others. MPEG will decide on the use of the proposed techniques, i.e. technology proposed based on AVC might be used in the standard in order to adapt HEVC to 3DV.
There was no agreement on the baseline video codec. While some claim that an AVC and MVC decoder should be able to extract meaningful information out of 3DV streams, others see this compatibility important for HEVC decoders only. A non-compatible high-performance profile might also become part of this project. In terms of complexity, there is agreement that the number of pixels processed by the encoder should be limited to 4 times the resolution of the monoscopic video. Therefore, a stereo view with two depth maps would be acceptable input.
The following documents were updated: N11829 Applications and Requirements on 3D Video Coding, N11830 Draft Call for Proposals on 3D Video Coding Technology and N11831 Description of Exploration Experiments in 3D Video Coding. The adhoc group working on 3DV is N11840 AHG on 3D Video Coding. A liaison statement N11876 Liaison Letter Template Draft Call for Proposals on 3DV
will be sent to several interested organisations. N11877 Liaison Letter to ITU-R SG6 WP6C on 3DV will be sent to ITU-R.
