MPEG-U Widget Manager Interoperability and Capabilities Exchange

Jean-Claude Dufourd, Cyril Concolato, Jean Le Feuvre, Kyungmo Park, Jaeyeon Song

Accepted (N11763)

30.3Summary of discussions

M18722: One negative vote with comments (n18944) from France.

M18944: Proposing four extensions:

  • An identification of MPEG-U Widget Manager by means of a specific service. Question is does it need to be known at the UPnP level, or is it opaque to the network level? It is believed to be opaque.

  • A way for authors to express the component migration policy (activationTarget attribute)

  • A message for widget manager capabilities discovery. Details of capabilities are expressed in another language (e.g. MPEG-21 DIA). It is felt that it is not at the MPEG-U level to decide on the exact format. A Mime type may be needed (additional parameter in the message).

  • An element to group alternative components and factorize attributes such as activateTrigger.

Seong Yong Lim, Injae Lee, Jihun Cha, Youngkwon Lim,

Accepted (N11765,N11781,

N11836,N11837)

31.3Summary of discussions

M19218: The contribution presents the problem of accessing user interface events on different OS or on different devices. It shows that similar problems are being dealt with by WAC and W3C DAP. It also presents some requirements and use cases. It describes some semantic interpretation of low level interaction (line, rectangle, … and skeleton events), and combination of them.

The requirements may need to be discussed with requirements.

The events and semantic interpretation seem to be out-of-scope of MPEG-V but this needs to be cheked.

The use of these events in the scene can be done:

  • In LASeR, by using ExternalSensorEvents (see TuC)

  • In MPEG-U, because the structure of the schema for these events is complex, it is not straightforward to use them (see contribution at Geneva meeting). Contributions are welcome.

The contribution is accepted and its text will go in the WD. It is probably time to move to CD and request subdivision. Responses will come in July (3 months ballot for CD) and then because of the DIS ballot (5 months + 2 weeks) means standard in 2012.
