Proposal for Profile and levels for MPEG-H 3D Audio
Jan Plogsties

The contribution proposes a “main” profile for MPEG-H 3D Audio that includes all tools in the DIS. A major component of the contribution is an evaluation of the complexity of the tools in the proposed profile. The complexity of each tool was presented and discussed.
Experts noted:
It would be good to define PCU (e.g. as 1 PCU = 1 Weighted MOPS, where “weighted” indicates that division = 10 OP and log = 10 OP).
PCU are informative and do not consider looping or memory access overhead
It might be useful to give example use cases for each level, in which case the PCU complexity could be much more precisely calculated.

ATSC Liaison on 3D audio
ATSC 3.0 and layered service model
This liaison is from ATSC, which is an important application standards body that is also a potential “customer” of MPEG-H 3D Audio. The liaison does not speak directly to the previous contribution’s profile proposal, but rather requests information on whether MPEG-H 3D Audio can operate in a “layered service” mode.
