6th PSSI-PLASMA SCHOLARS COLLOQUIUM

The Plasma Scholars’ Colloquium was started in the year 2012 under the envision of Plasma Science Society of India (PSSI) to create a platform exclusively for students, research scholars and post-doctoral fellows working in the areas of plasma and fusion science & technology needed to have rigorous interactions and build a bridge between the young plasma community and help each other in their research endeavor. The colloquium will include few talks by eminent scientists, oral and poster presentations by participants.
The colloquium is open ONLY to research scholars working in the area of theoretical/computational and/or experimental plasma science and technology. The number of participants is limited to 50. A few selected participants who are unable to meet travel expenses from their host institution will be provided to and fro rail fare by Sleeper class. Local transportation will not be provided.

Registration form and abstract template is available on the PSSI and SMIT websites. Registration form to be sent to the Convener at plasmacolloquium18@gmail.com. Last date for registration is 15th June 2018. Only soft copy of abstracts/ full paper will be accepted. The abstracts maximum page length is ONE A4 sized page and Full paper should not be more than FOUR A4 sized pages. Soft copy of abstracts/ full paper may be submitted online to PSSI (http://www.pssi.in/) or sent to the Convener directly. Abstracts and full paper template should only be used for preparing your manuscripts.
About the Venue
Sikkim Institute of Technology (SMIT) is awe inspiring beautiful, resort like campus nestling on the banks of River Teesta in the verdant hills of East Sikkim. The institute is a constituent college of Sikkim Maniapl University located in Tadong, Gangtok. Established in 1997, SMIT is part of the renowned Manipal Group that has made its mark in the field of education and health services in India and abroad. SMIT enjoys approval by AICTE and UGC. It was also accredited by NBA. In addition, it also holds ISO 9001 accreditation vide NS-EN ISO9001:2000.
SMIT is one of India’s premier technology and management institutes and is home to over 3200 students, 220 members of faculty and an efficient team of support staff. The institute is reputed for its state of the art infrastructure, well stocked air-conditioned library, advanced technology laboratories, a sports complex, separate boys and girls hostels with, 24 hours running water with hot water facilities for winters, night canteens inside hostels, electrical sub-station for 24 hour generator support, etc.

The Department of Physics at SMIT is focused to upgrade the knowledge of physics for teaching and advanced research. Full time Post Graduate courses approved by UGC were started by Dept. of Physics from Aug. 1999. It offers Master Degree and PhD courses in Physics. The Department has a team of very experienced, highly qualified and dedicated faculty members with expertise in Plasma Physics, Particle Physics, High Energy, Condensed Matter, Nanotechnology and Electronics. Adequate laboratory facilities have been erected by the University as per the requirement of UGC. The students are thus exposed to mixed metro environment, in serene land of Sikkim Students with deep sense of scientific enquiry are welcome to avail the facilities. Deadlines
Submission of Abstract/ Full paper: Document MUST be in MS Office compatible .DOC or .DOCX format (save as .DOC if using Open Office.). Running text should be in 12 point Times New Roman, justified, single space should contain a brief introduction, detailed breakup of the lecture and an extended description of the lecture contents. The maximum page length for abstract is ONE A4 sized page and FULL paper is FOUR A4 sized pages with margin 0.5” on Top, Right and Bottom and 1.0” margin on Left. Additional sub sections may be added as required. Please use single space between paragraphs. Textual references should be in this format [1]. Please include references from the internet as complete links with title of the webpage [2]. Please avoid using figures, equations and tables in the abstract. Abstracts/ Full papers submitted using the Templates available in the PSSI and SMIT websites will only be accepted.

Accommodation:
Limited separate Girls and Boys hostel accommodation with attached bath on twin sharing @ Rs. 200/- per person per day will be made available on request only. Family accommodation will not be available inside the campus.

How to reach SMIT?
SMIT, is located in Majhitar, which is just five km from Rangpo Entry gate to Sikkim. It is on the way to GANGTOK, which is about 37 km from SMIT.
By Air
The Bagdogra Airport nearest to SMIT, Majhitar is about 90 km away in Bagdogra, West Bengal. From the airport, you can hire a prepaid taxi to SMIT, Majhitar which is about three and half hours drive along gorgeous hilly road with beautiful River Teesta flowing by your side. Pakyong Airport, Sikkim has also become recently operational with limited flight facilities.
By Train
The nearest train station connecting rest of India to SMIT by train is New Jalpaiguri, Siliguri, West Bengal. There are shared taxi and hired taxi service available from the station to Gangtok, which can be booked for SMIT, Majhitar. Those who want o avail bus will have to come to Siliguri. The local bus service is available from SNT Bus stand and NBSTC Bus stand, Siliguri. Both the stations are within the reach of 500 m from each other.
