“IT’S SHREDDERIFIC!”

NEW RECYCLE UTAH PROGRAM - SELF SERVE WHITE PAPER SHREDDER

PARK CITY, UTAH – Local Park City businesses and residents now have another option when throwing away their white office paper. A new commercial grade paper shredder was installed at Recycle Utah on 1951 Woodbine Way in Park City. Residents and businesses can now personally shred their own documents before recycling them.

The new shredder, which is stationed behind the white paper bin at the community recycling center, can handle 40 sheets of paper at one time. Last week, a local accountant, Chris Hanson from Nelson and Hanson Accounting, tried out the machine for the first time and processed 20,000 sheets of paper in 15 minutes.

“This is an exciting and much needed new program. Rather than spending hours and hours shredding documents on our office shredder or paying a Salt Lake City based company to shred important documents, I was able to take a 20 minute break and shred everything myself at Recycle Utah.  Best of all I know it will be properly recycled and not end up in the landfill.”

This new self serve program is of special interest for local businesses, accounting firms, title companies, schools and anyone who generates a lot of white paper. Although this is not a document destruction program (Recycle Utah is not bonded), this is a true recycling program.

“100% of this paper gets recycled.” says Executive Director, Insa Riepen. “This paper shredder slices the paper into strips, making recycling possible. Cross shred paper is more difficult to recycle.”

There are some do’s and don’ts with this new program. Do sort your white and pastel paper separately before you start shredding and feel free to ask a staff member if you need help. DON’T shred any plastics, CD’s / DVD’s, magazines or colored glossy paper. Please remove all paper clips or binder clips - staples are okay. This is a free service for the residents of Summit and Wasatch Counties but donations to help maintain this program are always welcome. Sincere thanks to The Lund Family Foundation for making this paper shredding program a reality.
