“TAPPED: THE MOVIE” PREMIERES ON THURSDAY, JANUARY 14, 2010 AT THE JIM SANTY AUDITORIUM: FUNDRAISER FOR RECYCLE UTAH
PARK CITY, UTAH – Have you ever wondered what’s really in the “pure” water when you purchase healthy “mountain spring” bottled water? Have you ever wondered where that water really comes from?

Enter “Tapped:The Movie”: a new documentary, from director Stephanie Soechtig and the producers of Who Killed The Electric Car? Tapped takes an inside look at the bottled water industry. It shows how consumers have been tricked into spending money on water in plastic bottles that should actually be free - out of their faucets. It covers topics ranging from exploitation of local water sources to the creation of the “plastic soup” in the Pacific Ocean. It’s an informative movie that provokes the kind of shock and righteous indignation inspiring change. And, as you’ll see, making small changes to your water habits will not only help the planet, it will also protect your health and save you money.

As a fundraiser for Recycle Utah and part of the Park City Film Series, Tapped: The Movie will be shown on Thursday, January 14th at 7pm. A donation of $5.00 is appreciated. The film is underwritten by the Snyderville Basin Water Reclamation District.

This film premiere event will start at 6 pm at the Jim Santy Auditorium with informational booths presented by Recycle Utah, the Park City Water District, the Snyderville Basin Water Reclamation District, the Summit Land Conservancy and more. Stainless Steel Water Bottles and DVD’s of the movie will be on sale. Recycle Utah is the local, non-profit community drop-off recycling center located at 1951 Woodbine Way in Park City with satellite drop offs throughout the county. Proceeds from this event will be used to increase education about local water infrastructure and develop programs to encourage water conservation.

As Mark Twain once said, “ Whiskey is for drinking, water is for fighting over.” Understanding local and global water issues is an important part of everyone’s life and ensuring safe, clean and reliable drinking water is worth fighting for. So grab some friends (and a reusable BPA-free water bottle) and head out to the Santy Auditorium on Thursday January 14th.
