Features of mental processes in primary school age

Abstract:
Primary school age (6.5-7 years old to 10-11 years old) is determined 
by an important external situation in a child's life - enrollment in school. At this age,

there are also significant changes in the organs and tissues of the body: the spectrum 
of sensory organs becomes clearer, the value of the secondary signaling system 
increases, the characteristics of neural processes approach those of adult nervous 
processes. All this creates the necessary conditions for the development of mental 
processes necessary for educational activities. The attention, memory, and 
imagination of a young student are already independent, and cognition, attention, 
memory, and imagination develop towards arbitrariness, productivity, and stability. 
Thinking rises to a new level. Under the influence of mental processes and the 
environment, the development of the emotional sphere and the formation of personal 
qualities take place. The child activates the mechanisms of self-regulation, self-
education, self-esteem, self-control, self-esteem . There will be interest in school, 
motivation to study, independence, diligence. However, if a child does not have a 
certain psychological flexibility, problems with school adaptation can also occur. The 
emergence of personal development and self-awareness will be the cause of the 
seven-year crisis. However, with the right approach by adults, the emotional state is 
stabilized and inner comfort is restored. In this article, we will discuss the 
psychological processes that take place in the psyche of school-age children.
