Your Network Is Everything
Julius Dein used the tactic of reposting to grow his page. He had pages in
the meme niche post his content on their accounts while crediting him.
Every time these accounts would post one of his videos, he would get
another twenty, thirty, or forty thousand new followers. By using this
strategy, he gained up to a hundred thousand followers a week. He says that
the key to success on the platform is good content and good distribution.
Your network is everything.
Keep in mind, however, that Dein’s rapid growth is a bit out of the
norm. Massive growth on Instagram usually doesn’t happen as quickly as it
does on Facebook. Normally, people get 25,000 to 50,000 followers a
month, max. This is a far cry from a million followers in thirty days on
Facebook. For growth to happen you need to be patient and consistent over
time. Of course, if Kim Kardashian likes or comments on your content,
massive growth can scale more quickly, but your content needs to be really
good, and you have the real challenge of getting her to see it.
To boost your own ability to become influential on the platform, keep in
mind that consistency is key. Joivan Wade explains that Instagram’s
algorithm places you in one of three categories: (A) posting at least twice a

day, constantly engaging with comments and likes from your audience, and
engaging with other people’s posts and commenting (this behavior creates a
prime account—most likely to hit the Explore page and influence other
pages to hit the Explore page); (B) posting every other day, a few times a
week, and only sometimes engaging with user comments and likes; or (C)
posting once in a blue moon, never really commenting back to other users’
comments, and not engaging in activity with creators. Which one are you
