Value Persevere. •
Read the value with the class:
Persevere . Explain the
meaning of the word. Then ask
Who perseveres in the story – who tries again and again? (
Jack – he plays the tune until it’s right. )

Talk about how important it is to persevere and give
some examples from everyday life, e.g., when learning
to play a musical instrument, practicing to get better at
a sport, or learning to speak a language.
•
Ask for examples of when students have persevered.
They can talk about it in pairs or share with the
whole class.
