Now it’s your turn. Design a piece of recycled art. 
Read the questions in the Student’s Book and check 
that students understand the meaning
.
Students work 
individually to design their piece of art. Circulate as they 
work and ask, e.g., 
What’s this part made from?
Where would you find the material? Would you need to 
clean/cut/wash it first?

Students write about their art in their notebooks. 
Encourage them to answer the questions in their 
description (e.g., write about what it’s made from,
what it looks like, and whether it’s a sculpture or a toy).

5 Make notes about something you can make by
reusing old things.

Read the instructions and go through the questions 
with the class. Explain that students need to think of 
something to make that’s different from the piece of art 
in the Student’s Book and complete the chart with notes. 
Do an example chart on the board if necessary. Circulate 
and help with language (especially for the “how you 
make it” section of the chart).

6 Write a blog about reusing things to make 
something new.

Ask students to look at Kerry’s blog on page 60 and 
think about the structure (there’s an introduction talking 
about the importance of reusing/recycling, then Kerry 
lists the things you need, next there’s a list of step-by- 
step instructions, and at the end, she closes the blog
with a message about the next post).

Students write their own blog in the space provided. 
Encourage them to use a structure similar to Kerry’s.
They use their notes from activity

5 to help them.

Students can share their blogs in groups and say which 
thing they would most like to make.
