Students ask and answer about
future plans with
going to
.
New language
What are you going to do? Are
you going to (travel in a spacecraft)? Yes, we are. / No,
we aren’t.

Recycled language

•
Say
What am I going to do?
Mime getting ready to do
an activity (e.g., wash your hands, put on an apron, find
cooking equipment). Students say, e.g.,
You’re going to
cook dinner.
Choose a volunteer and give him/her a card
with another activity on it. The volunteer mimes getting
ready to do the activity. The class guesses in the same
way, e.g.,
You’re going to …
, and the student who’s
miming says
No, I’m not
or
Yes, I am.
Whoever guesses
first takes a card and does the next mime.
Presentation
•
Make a sentence about your plans, e.g.,
After this class,
I’m going to drink a cup of coffee.
Ask different students
What are you going to do (after class)?
For each answer,
ask
Who else is going to … ?
Students raise their hands.
Student’s Book page 84
What are they talking about? Listen and choose.
•
Mime walking in space. Say
Let’s all go on a moon walk
.
Students mime. Ask why it is difficult to walk on the
Moon (because the pull of gravity is weaker). Write
zero
gravity
on the board and ask students how astronauts
feel/what they do in zero gravity (
They feel weightless,
and they float
). Show photographs of astronauts in zero
gravity, if possible.
•
Say
Life in space is difficult for our bodies. How can
astronauts get ready for living in space? What machine
do they use?
Teach
simulator.
•
Ask
Who can you see in the photograph?
(
Emma and
Alex.
)
Ask
What are they talking about?
Read the three
options and check comprehension of or present
