GREENOCK (Scotland, United Kingdom)
Located in the gently undulating hills of Scotland’s west central Lowlands at the mouth of the River Clyde, the port and town of Greenock is a great place from which to explore the surrounding area. Things to do include walking the famous old “Cut” aqueduct, taking a trip to Craig’s Top for the panoramic views and promenading along the town’s elegant Esplanade that flanks the water’s edge.
GRK01 – GLASGOW SIGHTSEEING TOUR

Duration: 4 hours

An enjoyable 1-hour coach drive through Scotland’s spectacular landscape will first take you from Greenock to Glasgow, which was widely known as the “Second City of the British Empire” for much of the Victorian and Edwardian eras. Nowadays, Glasgow is a vibrant multi-cultural locale and one of Europe’s top financial centres. Your city tour begins at the heart of Glasgow in George Square, the site of various statues, before continuing on for an external viewing of the impressive Gothic-style St. Mungo’s Cathedral, which is said to have been built on the spot where Saint Mungo, the patron saint of Glasgow, once built a church. A stop will be made in the area known as Townhead for a short walking tour that will give you an outside look at the medieval Provand’s Lordship, Glasgow’s oldest building dating back to 1471, and the Museum of Religious Life and Art. En route to the beautiful district known as Kelvingrove, home also of the gorgeous red-brick palace housing the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum, you can admire several examples of Charles Rennie Mackintosh’s inspired architecture. Continuing with a drive through the city’s main park, your tour of Kelvingrove will culminate at the university for an outside viewing of the wonderful historical buildings, which lend this venerable seat of learning a distinctly medieval flavour.

GRK02 – PANORAMIC SCOTTISH LOCHS

Duration: 4.5 hours

Any visit to Scotland should include some time spent enjoying its incredible scenery, which this tour of mountains and lochs gives you a chance to do from the comfort of a modern coach. Leaving the port, you will first travel eastwards to cross the River Clyde and then make your way up to Loch Lomond, Scotland’s largest freshwater lake. Watch out for the quite dramatic change in scenery as you approach the loch. The mountainous backdrop and clear blue of the water serve to epitomise the rugged splendour of this Scottish landscape – and are certainly worth a photo or two. A stop will be made in Luss, a picturesque village that is thought to have taken its name from an adaptation of the French for the heraldic iris, a so-called fleur-de-lis. Evidence suggests that Luss was founded sometime in the 1300s when it is known that a church dedicated to Saint Kessog stood here. You will have some free time to stroll along the banks of the loch or have a drink in a traditional Scottish pub (not included in the price of the tour). Next up is a stop at the “Rest and Be Thankful” viewpoint for another chance to take some photos of the incredible scenery. Your return journey will take you past Loch Fryne, Loch Eck and Holy Loch for more splendid vistas to enjoy. A crossing on the car ferry from Hunter’s Quay to McInroy’s Point completes the final leg of your return trip to Greenock pier.

GRK03 – STIRLING CASTLE

Duration: 4.5 hours

After boarding a coach at the pier, you will first travel northeast through the scenic countryside en route to Stirling, passing through Dumbarton and the pretty villages of Drymen, Buchlyvie and Arnprior on the way. Among Stirling’s main attractions are Wallace Monument, built on top of the Abbey Craig hill in honour of the 13^th-century Scottish hero, Sir William Wallace, as well as the magnificent Stirling Castle, the destination of this tour. Thanks to its favourable position in the middle of Scotland, Stirling was of huge strategic importance in the past. You will have a chance to visit and explore the historic castle and its incredible architecture as well as the co-located 16^th-century Renaissance-style Royal Palace, which has now been returned to its former glory. The furniture and décor in the royal apartments will give you an idea of the Palace’s former splendour. The whole experience is richly brought to life by all sorts of “great lords and ladies” and their “servants” who roam the grounds and will happily explain the details of daily castle life. Your visit will conclude with a stop at the tapestry studio to see world-class weavers restoring one of the world’s finest surviving sets of medieval tapestries. After savouring the fabulous views of the Highlands and Lowlands from the castle’s esplanade and taking some photos, your 1.5-hour return trip to Greenock will begin with more opportunities to enjoy the spectacular Scottish scenery.

GRK04 – STUNNING LOCH LOMOND : CRUISE & SHOPPING

Duration: 4 hours

Only a short coach ride from the pier in Greenock will see you reach Scotland’s most famous lake, the scenic centrepiece of the National Park and the largest body of freshwater in the whole of the U.K.: Loch Lomond. After leaving the coach and boarding a pleasure boat at the loch, you can look forward to a relaxing 1-hour cruise with a whole host of amazing views for you to enjoy. As you cruise, you will pass by six of Scotland’s most elegant Victorian stately homes, built by rich Glaswegian merchants on the banks of the loch, and the isle of Inchmurrin, the largest of 60 isles in Loch Lomond and home to the ruins of a 7^th-century monastery and Lennox Castle. Nowadays, the isle is inhabited by no more than ten residents and a few farm animals. Following the cruise, the next leg of the tour will take you to Balloch, situated a little north of Dumbarton, for a quality shopping experience. With a luxury outlet of Jenners, a well-known Edinburgh department store, plus shops of other well-known brands, local jewellery and arts & crafts to browse, you can shop to your heart’s content and maybe pick up a special souvenir or two. Your return trip to Greenock will take you via Dumbarton, site of the famous fortifications on Dumbarton Rock.

GRK05 – GLASGOW ON YOUR OWN

Duration: 6.5 hours, lunch not included

This tour is the perfect opportunity to explore Glasgow at your own pace and visit only those places you really want to see. On leaving Greenock in a modern coach, a scenic 1-hour drive will take you to Glasgow through Scotland’s appealing countryside. After a brief unguided orientation tour of the city, passing the lovely district of Kelvingrove and Saint Mungo’s Cathedral on the way, you can enjoy plenty of free time to do as you please. Once considered to be the “Second City of the British Empire”, modern-day Glasgow is a vibrant multi-cultural locale with lots to see and discover. Places of interest while in Glasgow include the City Chambers, an impressive late 19^th-century building constructed in Italian Renaissance style, the lovingly restored Willow Tea Rooms, which were originally designed by Charles Rennie Mackintosh in 1904, as well as the ultra-modern Tradeston Pedestrian Bridge, which is also called the “Squiggly Bridge” – no prizes for guessing why. But whatever you choose to do while in Glasgow, the friendly vibe of this Scottish city is sure to work its magic on you. Your tour ends with your return trip to Greenock by coach.

GYTHION (Greece)
Gythion is a port town on the Gulf of Laconia in Greece, located on the Peloponnese peninsula in the area of Mani. This part of Greece is home to some of the most beautiful scenery in Europe, where sleepy fishing villages and idyllic white beaches play host to rich history and cultures.
GYT01 – MYSTRAS

Duration: 4 hours

From the port an hour coach drive will take you across the Evrotas Valley and to the ancient city of Mystras. Mystras was formerly the fortified capital of the Byzantine Peloponnese and it is here that we will visit an important archaeological site, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage centre in 1989. View the impressive Mystras Palace, a rare example of Byzantine architecture, and the church, Agia Sophia, which has two small chapels containing beautiful frescoes. We will also visit the church of Agios Dimitrios before heading for the town of Sparta which was the greatest military power of Greece and is now a beautiful city with tree-lined boulevards. Brief stop in the main square before returning to Gythion.

GYT02 - DIROS CAVE

Duration: 3.5 hours

Located between the towns of Pirgos Dirou and Areopolis, the Diros Caves are perhaps one of the most fascinating natural sites in Greece. The Paleolithic and Neolithic artefacts found here suggest that the caves were one of the earliest inhabited places in Greece. We will leave the port and drive inland to reach Pyrgos Dirou. A subterranean river flows inside the caves and we will board small boats for an amazing journey across the cave lake – the best way to admire the stunning, multi-coloured stalactites and stalagmites of all shapes and sizes that have formed here over millennia. Gliding across the water, we will enter many cave chambers and caverns, marveling at this silent underground world. Magical !

GYT03 – SPARTA & OLIVE OIL MUSEUM

Duration: approx. 4 hours

Journey into the heart of Greek identity as you learn about the history of olive oil production, which has influenced this country’s culture and commerce for centuries. A 45-minute coach ride through scenic ancient vineyards will take us to the town of Sparta, in the heart of Evrotas valley. Here we will visit a major olive oil museum, a showcase to this essential, beautiful product that is so integral to Greek and Mediterranean identity. Learn about olive oil production and importance of the olive in local culture; see how olive oil was produced as far back as the Byzantine era and discover today’s techniques. Our museum visit is followed with a drive through Sparta to admire the principal neoclassical buildings such as the Town Hall. Some leisure time scheduled before returning to the port.

HAMBURG (Germany)
Hamburg is one of Germany’s three city states, the country’s second-largest metropolis after Berlin and a member of the former Hanseatic League. Hamburg’s favourable location on the banks of the River Elbe make it a city of many charms, with parks, beautiful architecture and the splendid old Speicherstadt warehouse area all adding to its elegance and style.
HAM01T – Hamburg highlights

Duration: approx. 4 hours

Experience Hamburg on this tour of its most iconic sights. Your visit to Germany’s largest port and second-largest city begins at the late 19^th-century City Hall, then proceeds to Germany’s oldest stock exchange and goes on to the gorgeously Gothic, old red-brick warehouses in the Speicherstadt. The elegant Jungfernstieg shopping area is next, followed by the super-exclusive Außenalster district and the St. Pauli Landungsbrücken, old jetties where sailing vessels docked in the past. You then head for Hamburg’s world-famous Reeperbahn, a “mile of sin” that is named after the rig-makers that used to ply their trade there in the 17^th century. The tour draws to a close with passing by St. Nikolai War Memorial Church and with a visit to St. Michael’s Church and finally the Krameramtsgasse, an old district that originated in the 17^th century as an early form of housing for widows.

HAM02T – LüBECK

Duration: approx. 6 hours

A pleasant 1.5 hour drive on the coach will take you to discover the city of Lübeck – declared a UNESCO world heritage site in 1987. In mediaeval times, it was the capital of the Hanseatic League for a number of years and as you walk down the city’s many quaint alleyways, it is easy to get a feel for Lübeck’s trading past. Also on your tour itinerary are the stunning Holsten Gate, the town hall and St. Mary’s Church, home to the world’s largest mechanical organ, as well as the Hospital of the Holy Spirit, one of Lübeck’s oldest social institutions. Before having some free time to look around on your own, the tour is rounded off by visits to Buddenbrook House, the former home of the Lübeck-born authors Thomas and Heinrich Mann, and to Café Niederegger, known globally as a purveyor of fine marzipan.

HAM03T – Lüneburg, Hanseatic City of White Gold

Duration: approx. 5.5 hours

Following a sightseeing tour of Hamburg’s most important sights, your coach will take you on a 1-hour scenic drive to the beautiful city of Lüneburg, which is situated on the River Ilmenau and is a one-time member of the mediaeval Hanseatic League, a powerful alliance of trading cities and guilds in its day. Lüneburg’s moniker as the “City of White Gold” is owed to the abundant salt deposits on which it is built, the mining of which also gave rise to the town’s prodigious prosperity in former times. The wonderful old town with its many richly decorated historical buildings and small, cobbled alleyways is best explored on foot. Your tour will take you past the 800-year old town hall – certainly worth a snapshot or two – as well as the house in which the famous German poet, Heinrich Heine, once lived and worked. You will also have some free time to enjoy the city’s many picturesque sights and to do some shopping at your leisure before returning to Hamburg and your ship.

HAM04T – Hamburg by Land & Sea

Duration: approx. 4.5 hours

When maritime flair meets elegant boulevards, when palatial villas meet one of Europe’s most notorious nightlife districts and when urban sprawl is relieved by acres of green and spacious parkland, it can only be one place: the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg. Your tour starts with a drive through the swanky HafenCity redevelopment area and the adjacent Speicherstadt, Hamburg’s historical warehouse quarter. Then you will board a pleasure boat to continue on Hamburg’s waterways for a unique waterside view of the city’s architecturally varied skyline. Once back on your coach, the tour continues on a round of all the major sights – including City Hall, the Planten un Blomen botanical park, the Reeperbahn district and the trendy Junfernstieg area. A stop at St. Michael’s Church, Hamburg’s most iconic landmark, and a chance to view the 17^th-century houses in the Krameramtsgasse bring your tour to a close.

This “Free and Hanseatic City” is Germany’s second-largest metropolis and its largest port. Elegant and cosmopolitan, Hamburg is a city of grand office buildings, magnificent promenades, international musicals, spacious parks, extravagant shopping malls – and, of course, the “naughty-but-nice” Reeperbahn district. Your sightseeing tour, including various brief photo stops, begins at the splendid late 19^th-century City Hall, followed by Germany’s oldest stock exchange and then takes you to the beautiful red-brick architecture of the Speicherstadt, Hamburg’s historical warehouse district. The elegant Jungfernstieg shopping area is next and, time permitting, the exclusive Außenalster area. On your way, finally, to the world-famous Reeperbahn district, you will also pass by the St. Pauli Landungsbrücken, the old jetties where sailing vessels used to moor in the past.

HAM08T – SCENIC Hamburg WALKING EXPERIENCE

Despite being Germany’s second-largest city, Hamburg is still extremely green with numerous parks and can easily be explored on foot. Your tour of this Free and Hanseatic city begins with a scenic coach drive to the so-called “Planten un Blomen”, a low German name for a 47-hectare stretch of parkland occupying the centre of Hamburg that simply means “plants and flowers”. Opened in 1821, the Planten un Blomen still remains one of Europe’s finest city parks. Its many attractions include a charming Japanese tea house, a lovingly tended and fragrant pharmaceutical garden, water cascades plus koi goldfish and one of the city’s most extensive open-air children’s playgrounds, which is sure to appeal to any younger guests. To cap your visit to the Planten un Blomen, you will also visit the tropical greenhouse, an amazing place of heat- and humidity-loving plant life. Then, after passing through the main shopping area, it’s on to the two artificial lakes that grace the centre of Hamburg. Created by ponding the River Alster, the so-called Binnenalster (inner Alster) and Außenalster (outer Alster) were originally named to reflect their position in relation to Hamburg’s old city walls. These two bodies of water are still an important and extremely pretty urban recreational area. Before returning to the port, a modern coach will then take you on a whistle-stop tour see the main sights of the city, including St. Michaelis Church (which the locals simply call the “Michel”), the gorgeous old Speicherstadt warehouse district and the St. Pauli Landing Stages.
