MLD04 – FROM MOLDE TO ANDALSNES

The Norwegian city of Molde is situated on the banks of Romsdalsfjord at the foot of the hilly Moldemarka region. Blessed with an unusually mild climate, Molde boasts numerous plants that are more commonly found in much warmer regions, such as roses. After a short sightseeing tour of the city, you will board a ferry to cross the majestic Romsdalsfjord and admire its southern panorama, the Romsdal Alps. Continuing on from Vestnes by coach, the tour will take you across the Oerskog mountain plateau, a favourite local skiing area. The route will also take you along the shores of Storfjord (The Big Fjord) and villages like Sjoeholt, where a stop will be made, and Stordal, world-famous for its furniture-making industry. As Storfjord leads into Norddal Fjord, the lush and fertile Valldal valley, known for its strawberry production, comes into view. Turning inland, the tour then stops briefly at Gudbrandsjuvet, a steep gorge at the bottom of which is a foaming river, before ascending the Trollstigen mountain plateau where there is time for a stroll to the nearby viewpoint. The tour slowly continues down the hairpin bends of the so-called Troll’s Ladder – Trollstigen – to Åndalsnes via Troll Wall vantage point, the highest sheer rock face in Europe reaching a height of more than 1,000 metres. The town of Åndalsnes, the terminus of the Rauma railway, links this part of the country with eastern Norway and Oslo. Located on the shores of the fjord, the town centre is fairly modern due to damage sustained during WWII. Lunch will be served enroute.

MONTE CARLO
Forming part of the Principality of Monaco, the administrative district of Monte Carlo is beautifully situated on a prominent escarpment at the base of the Maritime Alps on the French Riviera. It is not only home to such famous buildings as the Monte Carlo Casino and the Hôtel de Paris, but also to notable celebrities like Roger Moore, Shirley Bassey and Ringo Starr.
MON01 - CANNES & NICE
Duration: approx. 5 hours
After leaving the port at Monte Carlo by coach, you can first look forward to a 1-hour drive along the amazing coastline of the French Riviera en route to the captivating city of Cannes, a busy tourist destination and the host of the annual international Cannes Film Festival. You will then have some free time to explore the city centre at your own pace. Apart from the lovely old town with its winding lanes, narrow alleys and great views from the castle ruins, other Cannes’ highlights include the yachts moored in the harbour and the wonderful La Croisette seafront promenade with its luxury hotels and boutique shops. After re-boarding your coach, you will then head back along the coastal road to Nice, the capital of the French Alpes Maritime département, which is part of the larger Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region. You will then be taken on a leisurely guided walk to discover the main landmarks of this lovely French city, including the famous seafront boulevard known as the “Promenade des Anglais”, so named for the earliest visitors who came to enjoy their holidays at the resort. Your scenic tour of the French Riviera ends with the return drive to Monte Carlo and your ship.

MON02 - PANORAMIC TOUR
Duration: approx. 4 hours
Give yourself a chance to discover the highlights of Monaco on this enjoyable half-day excursion off the ship, which begins with a panoramic coach ride along the so-called Grande Corniche road – the highest of three scenic coastal routes in Monaco – for a chance to admire lovely view of the Principality from above. Your exploration of this special place then continues on foot with a guided walk around Monte Carlo’s main landmarks, including the splendid Rock of Monaco, simply known as “Le Rocher”. You will also pay an outside visit to the famous Roman Catholic Saint Nicholas Cathedral, which was consecrated in 1875 and houses the tombs of Prince Ranieri III and Grace Kelly. Last up is a visit to the truly resplendent Prince's Royal Palace, which was originally built as a fortress in the 12th century and occupies a huge complex consisting of various buildings displaying very different architectural styles and landscaped gardens. Your tour of Monaco and its must-sees comes to a close with your return to the pier and your ship.

MON03 – NICE & EZE 
Duration: 4 hours
Leave the port and enjoy a 45-minute coach drive to Nice capital of the “Côte d’Azur”. Here we will admire the famous seafront boulevard known as the “Promenade des Anglais”, the legendary “Negresco” Hotel with its delightful rococo façade and pass by the Russian Orthodox Cathedral with its brightly coloured ceramics and six onion domes. Finally we will visit the old town and have some free time on the attractive “Cours Saleya”, a colourful square in Nice old town. Next we will continue to the medieval cliff-top town of Eze. Pass the XIV century double gateway and enjoy a walk through the narrow streets of the town. A stop for shopping is scheduled at the renowned Fragonard perfume factory to learn about French perfume techniques and purchase sample fragrances.

MON04 - EZE, MONACO & MONTECARLO
Duration: 4.5 hours
Leave the port and reach one of the jewels of the Côte d’Azur: Monte Carlo. After parking at the Rock of Monaco, you will head up to the old town. The friendly guide will lead you through the narrow uphill streets, past the Oceanographic Museum, the Cathedral where Princess Grace and Prince Rainier III are buried (outside view), and the fairytale Prince’s Palace. You will also get to see one of Monaco’s most famous buildings: the legendary Casino, which stands next to the glamorous Hôtel de Paris. Following a guided tour of the elegant square and the surrounding buildings, you will continue on to the medieval town of Èze, entering via the 14th century double gateway and then walking through the narrow streets. A shopping stop is also scheduled at the renowned Fragonard perfume factory for a chance to learn about French perfume techniques and, if so inspired, to splurge on some fragrance samples.

MON05 – WALKING TOUR TO MONACO’S “LE ROCHER”
Duration: approx. 3 hours
Dig out some comfortable walking shoes and prepare to stretch your legs on an enjoyable 3-hour guided stroll around the highlights of Monte Carlo, an administrative district of the Principality of Monaco. Located on a tiny patch of land on the exclusive southern coastline of France, whatever Monaco may lack in size, it certainly makes up for in the beauty of its surroundings. After leaving the pier, you will first head for Fort Antoine, an early 18th-century stronghold that is now an open-air theatre, until we reach the famous Rock of Monaco, or Le Rocher as it is more commonly known. This promontory overhanging the Ligurian Sea affords splendid views of the city below, the coastline and the deep blue sea. The tour then continues with a visit to Saint Nicholas Cathedral in Saint Roman, a place of Roman Catholic worship that was consecrated at the end of the 19th century. Along the way, you will also pass the Oceanographic Museum, a delightful building dating back to 1901, as well as the “Gardens”. The final call on the guided leg of this tour will be at the central square and the beautiful Prince’s Palace, where you can spend some time watching the changing of the guard. Some brief free time then follows before you return to the pier and your ship.

MYKONOS (Greece)
As one of Greece’s extensive island group known as the Cyclades in the Aegean Sea, the beautiful island of Mykonos looks back on a long history dating back to the early 11th century B.C.. Nowadays, the island’s natural beauty and modern amenities draw numerous visitors to its shores every year. A particular attraction in Mykonos town is the picturesque area called Little Venice.
MYK05 – mykonos uncovered

Venture out and uncover the many different facets of Mykonos island, the “St. Tropez of Greece”. Just how much the island has to offer is yours to discover on this relaxing and mainly coach-based tour, which begins with a drive to the so-called Panorama vantage point. A photo stop will give you a chance to capture beguiling views of Mykonos town and the old port, before a scenic route will take you through the picturesque villages of Agios Ioannis and Kalafatis as well as past the cosmopolitan beach of Ornos. A stop will be made at the heart of Mykonos to visit the island’s second-largest settlement, the village of Ano Mera, at whose centre stands the monastery and church of Panagia Tourliani. Probably founded at some time during the 16th century and then remodelled in 1767, the cloister is a major draw for travellers visiting the area. A generous helping of warm Greek hospitality then awaits you in a village taverna, giving you a chance to reflect on your day of Mykonian magic as you relax to the aniseed flavour of ouzo and the savoury goodness of typical Greek appetizers. MYK06 – DISCOVER the magic of mykonos on foot

As one of the Cycladic Islands, Mykonos has enjoyed great popularity as a holiday destination since the 1950s, offering travellers traditional Greek hospitality plus a lively nightlife against a backdrop of stunning beaches, whitewashed houses and a scenic interior. Just what makes the island so appealing is revealed in the course of this leisurely walking tour, which is set to showcase the rarely seen corners of town, its hidden gems, narrow winding streets and secluded walled gardens. And if the layout of Mykonos town appears confusing, it is. Specifically designed that way to thwart pirate attacks, the town continues to flummox all but the locals to this day. A trademark feature of the island are its numerous windmills, redolent of a bygone age during which they ground the wheat that made the bread that fed the island. Standing squat, round and proud against the buffeting wind, these portly landmarks make a great photo opportunity. Your exploration of Mykonos then draws to a close with your return to the ship.

NAPLES (Italy)
Naples offers a mix of breathtaking beauty and a strong sense of life being lived to its limits.
Squeezed between Vesuvius, Europe’s second-largest active volcano on one side and the sulphurous springs and boiling mud pools of the Flegrean fields on the other, Naples and its famous blue bay is a ‘must-see’ city. Visitors can also reach historic Pompeii, the delightful island of Capri and beautiful, sleepy Sorrento from here.
NAP01 - POMPEII

Your archaeological tour begins with a drive towards Pompeii, a once thriving town that was completely buried by lava, rubble and ash during the catastrophic eruption of Vesuvius in A.D. 79. It then lay hidden and perfectly preserved under tonnes of volcanic ash for almost 1,700 years before being accidentally rediscovered in the mid-18th century and then subsequently being excavated. The many artefacts that were found, especially items of daily life such as bread and honey, give the visitor a glimpse of the lives these ancient Romans lived. A fascinating guided walking tour will provide insight into the history of this amazing and very large archaeological site. A stop will also be made at a local coral factory on your return journey to the ship.

NAP02 - NAPLES HISTORIC CENTRE
Duration: approx. 4 hours
Depart from the port to the famous “Posillipo” district, situated high on a hill and which we will reach by driving through the most important and attractive streets in Naples. The excursion continues with visits to the famous Principe Umberto I's Gallery, San Carlo Theatre (exterior view) and Piazza Plebiscito. Short amount of free time for shopping and to visit the San Lorenzo Church tucked away in the historic centre of the ancient Greco-Roman city.

NAP03 - CAPRI ISLAND TOUR 
Duration: approx. 5.5 hours
Situated just a short ferry or hydrofoil transfer from the Bay of Naples, the beautiful island of Capri awaits you on this relaxing island tour. After docking at the Marina Grande on the north side of the island, you will board a minibus to reach Capri centre. In addition to being taken around the island in small minivans, you will also have some free time to explore the charming streets that surround the famous Piazza Umberto I, which is located in Capri’s historical centre. A visit to the splendid Villa San Michele, which was built by the Swedish physician Dr. Munthe at the turn of the 20th century and affords gorgeous views of Capri town, will round off your tour of Capri before boarding the ferry or hydrofoil for your return journey to the port of Naples.

NAP04 – EXCURSION TO VESUVIUS
Duration: approx. 4 hours
The beautiful Bay of Naples in the south of Italy is dominated by the town’s most iconic landmark: Mount Vesuvius, whose main cone currently reaches nearly 1,300 metres. While the slopes are marked by lava flows, a testament to earlier eruptions, they also feature heavy vegetation with vineyards in the foothills as well as scrubland and forestation higher up. Mount Vesuvius’ best-known eruption occurred in A.D. 79 and resulted in the destruction of two cities: Pompeii and Herculaneum, which were only rediscovered in the 18th century. An enjoyable guided walking tour will take you to the crater, from which point you can see a bed of lava and look out over the beautiful Gulf of Naples. Your return journey to the ship will give you more opportunity to admire the landscape’s lovely vistas.
Please note: wear comfortable walking shoes for the 30-minute climb up to the crater. In case of bad weather the tour programme will take guests on a panoramic tour of Naples.
NAP05 - THE ROYAL PALACE OF CASERTA  
Duration: approx. 4 hours
Just to the north of Naples lies the town of Caserta and the Palace of Caserta, the landmark for which the town is best known. A 45-minute coach transfer inland from the port will take you to Caserta’s magnificent former royal residence, which was built for the Bourbon kings of Naples towards the end of the 18th century. The palace was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1997. Modelled on the Palace of Versailles, this spectacular Baroque masterpiece is one of the finest examples of architecture from the Borbonic period. You will have time to look around the ornately decorated rooms and spend explore the extensive park on your own before heading back to Naples and your ship.
NAP07 - SORRENTO
Duration: approx. 4.5 hours
One of the pearls of the Gulf of Naples, Sorrento is surrounded by limestone hills, where olive trees and citrus groves show off a quintessential Italian landscape to all those who visit this delightful town. We will leave the port of Naples and reach Sorrento after a one-hour drive that takes us through the little villages of the coast. Our walking tour will start in Piazza Tasso and continue in the historic narrow streets of this unique town. We will walk to the “Sedil Dominova” XV century loggia, before visiting the Cathedral and San Francesco's Church, home to a charming cloister and gardens that offer a wonderful view over the Marina Grande harbour. Free time before returning to Naples.
NAP08 – SORRENTO & POMPEI

ODESSA (Ukraine)
Odessa is a major sea port located on the Black Sea in southern Ukraine, a country formerly part of the Russian Republic. Odessa marries old with new, seen in the mix of architectural styles ranging from Renaissance to Art Nouveau. Gilded domes and pretty pastel colours contribute to the story-book atmosphere.
ODE01 - CITY TOUR
Duration: approx. 3.5 hours
Located on the northern banks of the Black Sea, the town of Odessa was founded by Catherine the Great in 1794. Enjoy a walking tour along the main promenade of Odessa to admire the Potemkin Staircase, Pushkin's Monument and the exterior of the Opera House. We will visit to the Museum of Fine Arts and its wonderful collection of Ukrainian and Russian paintings. Short stop in the Arcadia district which is packed with great restaurants and cafés before stopping at Shevchenko Park to admire an enchanting view over the Black Sea.

ODE02 - CITY TOUR & SHOPPING 
Duration: half day
Combine a spot of retail therapy with some sightseeing on this enjoyable tour of Odessa. The tour begins with a walk along the main promenade of Odessa, with views of the Potemkin Staircase, Pushkin’s monument and the exterior of the Opera House to enjoy along the way. A short stop will be made in Sobornaya Square to see the wonderful Transfiguration Cathedral and to browse for souvenirs. The next leg of your shopping tour will then take you to the pedestrian area of Deribasovskaya Street, one of Odessa’s main thoroughfares and home to a wide range of boutiques, large stores, attractive leafy parks and green spaces. You will have sufficient time to have a look around the shops before making your way back to the port and your ship.
ODE03 – CITY TOUR & CATACOMBS
Duration: 4 hours
As the fifth-largest metropolis in Ukraine, a major seaport and the proud owner of a long and venerable history dating back to medieval times, the city of Odessa has much to offer and is certainly worth a visit. Part one of the tour will see you leave the pier and set off to discover the best of Odessa on foot, following a route that will take you down Prymorsky Boulevard, home to some of the city’s most important buildings and landmarks, including the monument to Duc de Richelieu and the famous Potemkin Stairs – a giant staircase designed to appear either longer or shorter depending on the perspective from which it is viewed. A photo stop will be made near the late 19th-century Odessa Opera House, an architectural masterpiece of Vienna Baroque style. Part two of the tour will see you board a modern coach for an approx. 1-hour drive to the village of Nerubayskoe and the famous catacombs, which were created as a result of stone mining and stretch beneath the city for more than 3,000 kilometres. After paying the catacombs and the museum a visit, your return journey to Odessa will provide more appealing views to enjoy as you pass picturesque villages, vast wheat fields and lush vineyards, all of which go to illustrate why Ukraine is also nicknamed “The Bread Basket of Europe”.

ODE04 – ODESSA NOBLE PALACES 
Duration: 4 hours
Don’t miss this great chance to explore the historical city of Odessa and its beautiful old buildings on a sightseeing tour dedicated to showing you the main attractions of the old town and palaces associated with two of its most famous noblemen: Count Leo Tolstoy and Prince Gagarin. One of these is the Odessa House of Scientists, a former residence of a cousin of Count Tolstoy, the world-famous author of War and Peace. The Baroque-style architecture of this 18th-/19th-century building is not just an amazing sight to behold on the outside, but is just as resplendent on the inside with features such as marble and gold decorations and furniture upholstered in Chinese silk. The tour then continues on to the former mid-19th-century mansion of Prince Gagarin, but which now houses the Museum for Russian & Ukrainian Literature with manuscripts and personal belongings of Pushkin, Bunin, Brodsky as well as other notable writers and poets. A special violin recital in the Golden Hall of the mansion will then follow – accompanied by a glass of chilled bubbly. A final stop at Odessa’s magnificent Opera House rounds off your tour before you head back to the pier and your ship.

OLBIA (Italy)
Situated close to the unspoiled Costa Smeralda region at the north-western end of Sardinia, the Italian resort of Olbia is indeed – as the meaning of its name suggests – a “happy town” and one of the most popular holiday destinations in the Mediterranean. A key feature of this area are the nuraghe, mysterious conical stone towers that were constructed during the Nuragic Age between 1,900 and 730 B.C..
OLB01 - THE ARCHIPELAGO OF MADDALENA
Duration: 5 hours
A short coach ride from Olbia will first take you north to the coastal town of Palau to board a ferry for the crossing to Maddalena Island, one of the seven main islands making up the Maddalena Archipelago located in the Straits of Bonifacio between north-eastern Sardinia and Corsica. While Maddalena Island looks back on a long military history, even once hosting Admiral Nelson and his fleet, it is now a designated national park – the Parco Nazionale Arcipelago di La Maddalena. The island’s granite coastline and verdant interior provide a rich natural habitat for a variety of wildlife and its unspoiled beauty draws tourists from around the world. A coach-based sightseeing tour will be followed by some free time to spend exploring the surroundings at your own pace. The island’s wonderful scenery is well worth a photo or two, so do remember to bring your camera. The leisurely tour is brought to an equally relaxing close with your return journey back to Olbia and the ship.

OLB02 - PANORAMIC TOUR OF ‘COSTA SMERALDA’

Beautiful by name and simply gorgeous by nature, the verdant Costa Smeralda is one of the most exclusive stretches of coastline in the whole of Sardinia and a popular holiday playground for the super-rich. This panoramic tour of the Emerald Coast begins with a scenic coach ride, during which a stop will be made to take pictures at Cala di Volpe. You’ll then make your way into Porto Cervo and the resort’s lovely piazzetta. After enjoying some free time, you will continue on to the Baia Sardinia, a pretty cove with a lovely beach of white sand. You can then spend a little time at the beach, before you make your way back to Olbia for additional free time for your to enjoy, Return to the pier and your ship.
OLB04 - SANTA TERESA DI GALLURA
Duration: 5 hours
After leaving the port of Olbia by coach, the first stop on this enjoyable tour will be in San Pantaleo, a lovely little village located in the hills of the amazing Costa Smeralda, the Emerald Coast. Look forward to a short stop in the village to stroll around, browse in the small shops and visit the craft workshops. The excursion then continues up through the northernmost part of the island to Santa Teresa di Gallura, a coastal resort that faces the Strait of Bonifacio and Corsica. A guided tour of this small, but pretty town will follow, after which you will also have some free time to stroll around on your own. Return to the port.
OSLO (Norway)
Oslo, the capital of Norway, is situated at the head of the Oslo Fjord and surrounded by woodland and lakes. A relaxed city with an abundance of tourist sights, Oslo boasts world-class cultural amenities and great shopping all set against an eclectic architectural backdrop.
OSL01 - INTRODUCTION TO OSLO
Duration: approx. 3.5 hours
This overview of Oslo provides a brief insight into the rich culture and history that the capital of Norway has to offer. Leaving the port we will embark on a scenic tour of the main streets and squares of Norway’s main city, and en route we pass some of Oslo’s most important architectural landmarks including the Town Hall, the Parliament, the National Theatre and the Royal Residence. Further on we will stop to visit Vigeland Park, which contains magnificent examples of the work of famed Norwegian sculptor, Gustav Vigeland. Over 150 sculptures are assembled here, and his oeuvres represent the full range of the human lifecycle, depicting all stages of man from birth to old age. Leaving the Park we will head to the hill at Holmenkollen, which provides a panoramic view of Oslo from above, and a chance to take photographs. We will then proceed to Oslo’s modern district, where we will find Oslo’s most contemporary buildings, including the celebrated Oslo Opera House. Home to the Norwegian National Opera and Ballet, this stunning piece of post-modern architecture was only recently completed in 2008; the award-winning structure is built from white Italian marble and characterized by large inclined plateaus. Walk up the sloping banks of this fabulous building to its rooftop, for an expansive view of the attractive harbour. Return to the port.

OSL02 - CITY TOUR, VIKING AND KON TIKI MUSEUM
Duration: approx. 3 hours
The attractive city of Oslo is Norway’s capital and looks back on a rich history going right back to its foundation by King Harald III c. 1048. This culture-based tour begins with a drive-by look at Oslo’s main landmarks in the city centre, which certainly include the Royal Palace, on your way to Frogner Park. Covering an area of some 45 hectares, this super-sized city park also hosts a fabulous collection of art in the so-called “Vigeland Sculpture Arrangement”. This exhibition of sculptural art comprises the lifework of the famous Norwegian sculptor, Gustav Vigeland, and is made up of more than 150 works that represent the full range of the human condition – from birth to death. Vigeland lived from 1869 to 1943 and is also known for having designed the medal that is awarded to winners of the Nobel Peace Prize. The tour then continues on to the nearby Bygdøy peninsula for a first stop at the fascinating Viking Ship Museum, whose copious collection of Viking artefacts includes three authentic longboats dating back to c. 900 to 1,000 A.D.. To round out your Oslo experience, you will also pay a visit to the Kon-Tiki Museum for a look at the famous balsa-wood raft that the legendary Norwegian explorer and zoologist Thor Heyerdahl used to cross the Pacific Ocean in 1969 as well as the reed vessel Heyerdahl used on his Ra II expedition. This maritime experience comes to a close with your return to the port and your ship.

OSL03 - CITY TOUR & OPEN AIR MUSEUM
Duration: approx. 3.5 hours Spend a few enjoyable hours off the ship exploring the varied attractions of lovely Oslo, Norway’s capital city. A drive-by tour of Oslo’s main sights makes a fine start to this half-day outing, after which the tour tempo will change to a more sedate pace when you reach Frogner Park. This amazing inner-city recreational area covers a huge 45 hectares and is also home to the wonderful “Vigeland Sculpture Arrangement”. This tribute to the famous Norwegian sculptor, Gustav Vigeland, comprises more than 150 works of art that serve to represent the entire cycle of human life, from infancy to old age. Vigeland lived from 1869 to 1943 and is also noted for having designed the medal awarded to winners of the Nobel Peace Prize. You will then make your way to the Bygdøy peninsula, a part of Oslo city, to visit an open-air museum which features 150 wooden buildings that are representative of the styles common in Norway’s various regions. One of the country's oldest structures, the 13th-century Viking Gol Stave Church, also forms part of the complex. The trip is rounded off with a walk around downtown Oslo, with the option of returning to the ship by coach or staying longer to make your own way back on foot.

OSL06 – OSLO SIGHTSEEING
Duration: approx. 2 hours
Any passengers weary of tramping city streets can take a welcome break and see the sights of Oslo from the comfort of a tour bus. We will drive past the new Opera House, Akershus Fortress, the Parliament building, the Royal Palace, the National Theatre and the Nobel Institute. Continue through Oslo’s attractive residential areas to Holmenkollen Hill from where you have a fantastic view over the city and the fjord below. The last part of the tour will take us to the Bygdøy peninsula where many of the city’s museums are located. Return to the port.
OSL07 - CITY TOUR, ICE BAR & VIGELAND PARK
Duration: approx. 3 hours
This carefully planned itinerary takes you around the key architectural and cultural hotspots of Norway’s capital in just a few hours. Departing from the port, we will head for Oslo’s modern district, home to the city’s most contemporary buildings and to Oslo’s Opera House. Recently completed in 2008, this award-winning structure is built from white Italian marble and characterized by large inclined plateaus. Walk up the sloping banks of this fabulous building to the roof, for an expansive view of the attractive harbour. We will then board a coach for a sightseeing tour of the city, passing the Town Hall, National Theatre and the Royal Residence before reaching the superb Vigeland Park. The Park contains the lifework of the Norwegian sculptor, Gustav Vigeland and is home to over 150 sculptures, which represent the full range of the human life cycle. The tour ends with a break in Oslo’s most fashionable hangout – the newly opened Icebar, the third addition to this city’s collection of ‘cool’ hotspots! Made entirely from ice, the interior temperature is never raised above – 5°. Use this occasion to drink to the good health of your fellow travellers with a glass of iced drink!

PALERMO (Italy)
Palermo is the capital of Sicily, a renowned vacation destination thanks to its great beauty and historic significance. Thanks to its eclectic past, Palermo offers an intriguing mix of cultures. Many ancient monuments still exist today, lending the city a unique appearance.
PMO02 - PALERMO AND MONREALE
Duration: approx. 4 hours
A coach tour will take you past the key sights, although we will stop for a full visit of the Cathedral, built in an unusual marriage of Norman and Arab architectural styles and which houses the tombs of different Norman kings and Emperor Frederick II. Another religious site of note is the “Casa Professa”, one of the most important baroque churches in Palermo. Discover the area around Palermo on a bus tour to Monreale, just 8 km away; enjoy a walking tour around the town and visit the Cathedral, home to an exquisite display of golden mosaics depicting scenes from the Old and New Testament. Free time to shop in Monreale before returning to the ship.

PMO03 - PALERMO BEACH

Our excursion begins with a sightseeing tour of Palermo through its main streets and squares including Politeama Square and Massimo Theatre. We will pass through the “Cala”, the old port of the city, and the church of “Santa Maria alla Catena” and other landmarks such us the Foro italic and the old waterfront of Palermo. We will stop at the Lido La Martinica where you will have free time for swimming and relaxing on a fully-equipped nearby beach. Lunch included.

PMO04 – CEFALU’
Duration: approx. 5 hours
Enjoy a 1-hour coach drive to Cefalù, a small yet pretty town situated one hour away from Palermo and which was founded by the Norman King Roger II in the XII century on the site of an earlier historic settlement. We will visit Cefalù Cathedral, the “Duomo del Cristo Pantocratore”, an example of Norman-Romaneque architecture with stunning interior Norman-Byzantine mosaics. Free time to walk around the narrow, atmospheric streets; look out for the intriguing public wash houses, a legacy of medieval times and which are carved into the rock. Quality local craft shops make Cefalù a great place for souvenir shopping.

PMO05 - THE VALLEY OF THE TEMPLES

Leave the port for a 2-hour drive to the town of Agrigento where you will meet your guide. The archaeological site here known as “the Valley of the Temples” is one of the most important archaeological sites in the world and was placed on the UNESCO World Heritage list in 1998. Important temples to the ancient gods Hera, Lacinia, Olympian Zeus, Castor and Pollux stand on a rocky promontory whilst below, on the banks of the Akragas River and close to a healing spring, are the remains of a temple dedicated to Eusculapius, god of medicine. True to Roman and Greek architectural practice, all these Doric temples face eastwards so the gods can be illuminated by the rising sun. The excursion includes lunch.

PMO06 – PALERMO & THE PALATINE CHAPEL
Duration: approx. 4 hours
Join us as tour through the streets and square of this bustling Sicilian town. Stop at one of Palermo’s key monuments: the Palatine Chapel. The Chapel was commissioned by Roger II of Sicily in 1132 and took eight years to complete. Upon entering the site one is struck by the elegance and the luminosity of the breathtaking mosaics which cover the ceiling and the dome. We will see more of Palermo’s architectural gems, including the Norman Palace (exterior only) and the Cathedral (exterior only). Do not miss the opportunity to look around the wonderful “Capo” Market, Palermo’s largest produce and fish market. We will end our tour via the “Teatro Massimo” (exterior only) before returning to the port.

PMO07 – SANTA ROSALIA’S GROTTO & MONDELLO
Duration: approx. 4 hours
Leave the port for Monte Pellegrino where, set into a local cave, stands the shrine of Santa Rosalia, which was founded in 1625; in the nearby caves, the bones of the Saint were supposedly discovered and are now venerated as religious relics. We will then head to Mondello, a former fishing village and today a top tourist destination. Enjoy some free time strolling around this pleasant village. We will have time for a short sightseeing tour of Palermo before returning to the port.

PALMA DE MALLORCA (Spain)
The city of Palma belongs to the Spanish island of Mallorca. Palma’s beautiful scenery, mild climate and ample holiday accommodation have made the island into a major European tourist destination. We have a variety of excursions on offer in the region, from Palma city tours, trips further inland to Valledemosa as well as several great days out suitable for children… Marineland, anyone?!
PMI01 - CITY TOUR
Duration: approx. 4 hours
Sightseeing tour of Palma with a photo opportunity at Bellver Castle, an historic Gothic fortress. You will have free time in the Barrio Gótico (Gothic Quarter) with a visit inside the Gothic Cathedral, built in 1230 on the foundations of an ancient mosque. Spanish traditions are kept alive at the “Plaza de Toros” where bullfighting events still take place whilst another Majorcan tradition, the creation of imitation pearls, can be witnessed at the pearl factory next door. Majorca pearls have been made on the island since the XIX century and are renowned worldwide for their quality; only experts can tell them apart from real pearls.

PMI02 - DRAGON’ S CAVES
Duration: approx. 4.5 hours
Speleology is the study of caves and all those with a keen interest in geology and natural phenomena will be bowled over by what is one of the world’s most interesting cave complexes created by the erosion of the sea. At 2 km long, the caves feature a series of lakes, including Martel Lake, the biggest underground lake on Earth. The atmospheric mood will be heightened by a memorable concert staged on small boats. Back above ground, we will have time to visit the pearl factory at Manacor before returning to the ship.

PMI03 - DINNER AND SHOW AT “SON AMAR”

Thanks to its splendid beaches, endless sunshine and spectacular scenery, the beautiful Balearic isle of Mallorca first became popular as a holiday destination in the 1950s. But beyond these nature-given assets, the island also supports a lively nightlife, a particularly fine example of which is Son Amar – the beating heart of Majorca and a window to the world. A 16th-century Majorcan manor house just outside of Palma has provided an elegant setting for this special dinner-and-show experience since the early 1960s. Look forward to flattering your palate with a gourmet 4-course dinner, during which you can enjoy a spectacular floor show that combines song, dance, comedy and body-bending acrobatics, all inspired by the farthest-flung corners of the earth. Prepare to let a cast of some 30 world-class performers and choreographers take you on a trip around the world, from Broadway to Bollywood, from Africa to Paris and from Ireland back to Spain. The Majorcan town of Costa d’en Blanes, just a short coach ride from Palma, is home to a superb aqua park that is packed full of great things to do and see: Marineland. This child-friendly excursion promises to be great fun for the entire family. The park’s many attractions include a tropical house and an aviary, a penguarium, an aquarium with sharks, an exotic bird show and a parrot house as well as – of course – the ever-popular sea lion and dolphin shows. You will have enough free time to explore the park on your own and take advantage of its various services, which include a gift shop and a photo service.

PMI07 – CATAMARAN TOUR
Duration: approx. 3.5 hours
This tour gives you an opportunity to get a closer look at Palma’s beautiful coastline from a whole new perspective: the water. After boarding a modern catamaran, your trip will take you past Palma’s main sights, giving you plenty of time to enjoy the gorgeous vistas on the way. The route taken along the coast will include a spectacular view of the old port as well as the suburb of Cala Mayor and the pretty coves around the coastal town of Illetas. You will also have some free time to explore the seaside resort of Illetas before returning to the ship. To round off your sailing tour, a light snack and a drink will be served on board the catamaran.

PMI15 – DISCOVER MAJORCA
Duration: approx. 7 hours, lunch included
Enjoy a day onshore discovering the beauty of Majorca. You will leave the port, heading eastwards to the village of Sant Joan, home of Els Calderers de Sant Joan, a manor typical of the Majorcan plain. See what life was like on the manor 200 years ago, with its farming activities, indigenous animals and assorted workshops. Lunch will be served in Sa Gruta Nova Restaurant. The afternoon continues with a coach transfer to Coves Dels Hams (“Fishhook Caves”), located on the east coast of Majorca near Porto-Cristo. Discovered by Pedro Caldentey in 1905, the caves are famous throughout the world for their exquisitely unique dripstone formations. Admire the numerous lakes inside these natural caves, whose incomparable beauty is only deepened by the electric lighting system installed by Pedro’s son Lorenzo. You will then return to the port, concluding this excursion with a panoramic coach ride around Palma.

PMI21 - PANORAMIC NIGHT TOUR
Duration: approx. 3 hours
Get under the skin of this Mediterranean city and learn all about the history and culture of beautiful Palma. The capital of the island of Majorca, Palma lies on the open the sea, set along an impressive and sweeping natural bay. We will start the tour with a drive along the Maritime Promenade until the Bullring, a magic place perfectly illuminated during the night. After this stop, the tour will carry on until the Barrio Gótico (Gothic Quarter) for a walking tour with an external view of the Gothic Cathedral, built in 1230 on the foundations of an ancient mosque and trough the old fishing district of the City. Finally, you will return to the ship a few minutes before midnight.

PATMOS (Greece)
PMS01- ST. JOHN’S MONASTERY & THE GROTTO
Duration: approx. 2.5 hours
The Sacred Island of Patmos lies at the northwestern extremity of the Dodecanese between the islands of Ikaria and Leros. An and of rare beauty captivating the visitor at first glance, with its picturesque harbor dominated by the imposing Monastery of St. John standi on the hill above. Leaving Skala harbor, you take a drive to the impressive village of Chora. The Monastery of St. John is situated amongst gleaming white houses forming a startling contrast to its dark mass. The Blessed Christodoulos, Servant of Christ, built the Monastery in 1088. It has thick, high walls crowned all around with batts and a total of eight chapels. The courtyard is laid with pebbles and decorated with arches through which one can see the intricately designed frescoes adorning the chapel entrance. The museum houses a magnificent collection of jeweled alices, crowns and crosses. In addition, there are old writings dating back as far as 1073, icons and religious paintings including an original El Greco. Many exhibits from the library can also be viewed in the museum. The tour then continues with a visit to the Grotto of St. John taking the form of a 17th century Monastery built around the cave where St. John lived for two years (95-97AD) during his writings of the Apocalypse. Inside on can see the stone which he is said to have used as a pillow. After this memorable tour, you will embark the coach for the short ride back to the port.

PMS02 - PATMOS HIGHLIGHT
Duration: approx. 3.5 hours
This varied tour is perfect for those who want just a e bit more. The tour visits the Cave of the Apocalypse home to the birth of the Book of Revelation, the last book in the Holy Bible. In 95AD, at the time of the persecution of the Christians, St. John was exiled to the Island of Patmos where the vision of the Revelation was revealed to him in this small cave which has now become a place of worship and an important destination for pilgrims. On leaving the Cave we drive to the old village of Chora, high on the hilltop where one will have the opportunity to photograph the breathtaking panoramic view over the island and discover the stunning architecture of houses dating from the fifteen to eighteen hundreds. Chora, the islands capital, houses the 11th century Monastery of St. John the Theologian. Here one can get a glimpse of monastic life and absorb timeless history through the magnificent ecclesiastical artifact of its museum. Among the Monastery’s treasures are frescoes of the founder Christodoulou and miracles of St. John, ancient documents dating from the 6th century, vestments, silverware and numerous Icons including a work attributed to El Greco. From the Monastery we walk through the winding cobbled streets of Chora to the house of Simandiris. Here we will have the uniq experience of seeing the interior of a traditional Patmian house along with antique furniture, embroidery, and paintings collected over 8 generations of the Simandiris family members. Before returning by coach to the port of Skala we conclude our tour with a walk through Chora and browse the open air shops.
PMS03 - SCENIC TOUR OF THE ISLAND
Duration: approx. 2.5 hours
An interesting scenic island tour has been designed fo hose of you who prefer to discover the beauties of Patmos within an airconditioned motor coach. Commencing your tour from the port of Skala you will drive half way up the mountain to the cave of St John to visit the most important site of the island. Your sightseeing will then bring you to the windmills of Chora, once upon a time the landmark of all Aegean islands. Enjoy the view, take photos and from there we continue to the south part of the island and observe the highest point of the island and the small village of Gricou. You continue your drive around the island to see its landscape of outstanding natural beauty comprised mostly of rocky hills, dozens of tongues of land reaching out into the sea, tranquil beaches and many picturesque inlets, before you arrive at the village o Kambos, located in the north part of the island. Here you will be welcomed with a refreshment and a traditional local sweet. Your tour ends in the port of Skala, the quaint and picturesque harbor of the island.
PMS04 - SPIRIT OF PATMOS

Leaving Skala harbor your tour will start by visiting the Grotto of St. John taking the form of a 17th century Monastery built around the cave where St. John spent two years living the life of an ascetic (95-97 AD). Under the influence of visions, St John wrote the Apocalypse, dictating it to his disciple Prochoros. We then drive up to the most impressive village of Chora, the capital of the island. On top of the hill, lies the Monastery of St. John, a Byzantine building, built in 1088 by the Blessed Christodoulos, servant of Christ. Behind its imposing thick, high walls, there is a fantastic array of religious treasures, relics of saints, priceless heirlooms, jewels and votive offerings. Monastery's library is of great importance with a rare collection of books and manuscripts. Taking the way down from the Monastery you will visit one of the traditional Patmian houses; the house of Simandiris family. The magnificence of Patmian houses interiors leave one speechless. While entering the thick wooden entrance door is like steppi nto another dimension. The Venetian style furniture and handicraft as well as the ceilings and multi colored mosaics date back to the 18th century. Then proceed to “Aloni” restaurant to enjoy some ouzo with Greek snacks while attending a Greek folklore show where you may participate. After this impressive tour you will return to Skala port.
