As an Executive Level 2 Manager / Senior Adviser you will have a range of responsibilities that may include, but are not limited to:


  • Oversee the management of staff, including providing a clear sense of direction, managing performance, health and wellbeing, and developing staff capability through coaching, mentoring and succession planning;

  • Drive innovation, manager and lead change, and actively contribute to and implement the Department’s strategic direction;

  • Plan and allocate resources to meet the teams current and future work priorities;

  • Provide high level advice and recommendations;

  • Make accurate judgements in a fast-paced and changing environment;

  • Manage the preparation of reports, briefings to Ministers, draft submissions to Cabinet, speeches, replies to parliamentary questions and other correspondence; and

  • Represent the Treasury at meetings, interdepartmental committees, conferences and other forums. Successful candidates will:

  • Support and engage with the future direction of the Treasury;

  • Be flexible and agile to meet immediate needs and future challenges;

  • Be team-orientated, have energy and determination to succeed;

  • Be able to make sound decisions and exercise judgement; and

  • Be open, accountable and of high integrity.

Positions are predominantly based in Canberra, unless there is a business requirement for candidates to be placed in Sydney or Melbourne.


Desirable Qualifications / Experience


  • Relevant tertiary qualification(s) in a relevant field, including, but not limited to, economics, law, business, finance, public policy, political science, and/or mathematics; and

  • at least eight years’ relevant work experience, is highly desirable.

Eligibility


Employees of the Treasury are required to be Australian citizens and are required to obtain a security clearance prior to commencement and maintain this clearance for the duration of their employment.
