Duties


Data Analyst: - General Stream

At this level you will be required to deliver quality products and services that are accurate and consistent with agreed timeframes and requirements.


Within this area of responsibility, as an APS Level 5 employee, you may be required to undertake some or all of the following:

  • Manipulating and interpreting large complex data sets to contribute to statistical publications;

  • contribute to the work program of the Statistics and Data Integrity team, including delivery of statistical reports and analysis as response to internal and external queries;

  • undertake the operational and technical aspects of processing information, research and analysis in areas relevant to the statistics team;

  • be aware of the requirements of internal and external clients and, where applicable, liaise, communicate and provide assistance; and

  • understand and facilitate compliance with DVA policies, guidelines, values and corporate responsibilities, including legislative requirements, performance management, the APS code of conduct and the APS Values, Workplace Diversity and Work Health and Safety requirements.

Capabilities in MS Access and MS Excel are highly desirable as is exposure to other data analytic / visualisation tools (e.g: SAS EG, SPSS, SQL Server, Tableau, Cognos etc.)


Potential candidates must be enthusiastic about data and the stories that can be told by access to high quality data products.

Duties


The occupant of the position is a member of a small administrative team located in a VVCS centre and is responsible for the administrative functions that support the delivery of counselling activities provided by a team of professional counsellors.
The position assists with the efficient day to day running of the region which includes presenting a professional first point of contact to the veteran community.
The occupant of this position reports to, and is under the direct supervision of the Regional Executive Officer. The occupant may also work in collaboration with the Deputy Director and other clinical staff as required.
The duties of this position require the occupant to work cooperatively across VVCS regions and with other areas of the Department of Veterans' Affairs including the Veterans' Affairs Network (VAN) office and communicate with other government employees, representatives of non-government organisations and individual clients.
In this role, the occupant of this position will provide data, advice and recommendations to enable the management to make decisions affecting the Region.

Eligibility
