Senior Vehicle Modelling and Simulation Engineer Land Engineering Agency (LEA) ensures that the technical integrity of land combat capability is attained and maintained over its entire lifecycle at affordable cost.
LEA achieves this through the application of specialist and systems engineering expertise to ensure the soldier is delivered equipment that is safe to operate, fit for purpose and meets environmental regulations.
In this role you will be required to provide professional engineering expertise in the field of Vehicle Modelling and Simulation to support the successful introduction into service of military vehicle systems. Modelling and Simulation will focus on structural finite element analysis, fatigue analysis, vehicle dynamics and mobility. Your specialist Vehicle Modelling and Simulation knowledge and skills will be applied through an engineering approach to the analysis, development, integration and evaluation of new military equipment and enhancements to in-service vehicle systems.
As the Senior Engineer for Vehicle Modelling and Simulation, you will provide specialist technical advice and accept the responsibility for the achievement of vehicle modelling outcomes through the coordination of Defence resources both internal and external to LEA.

Eligibility


Applicants must possess a 4 year Degree or higher in a field related to mechanical engineering under the Australian Qualifications Framework or comparable overseas qualification; or other qualifications comparable to those referred above, which, in the opinion of the delegate are appropriate to the duties of the position; and meets the eligibility requirements for membership or registration by Engineers Australia.
Applicants must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance at "Negative Vetting Level 1".

Duties




The Defence Communications Security Manager - Defence (CM-DEF) is responsible to the SO1 DCCA, through the SO2 COMSEC Plans. It has management and accounting responsibilities for all cryptographic keying material (keymat), communications security (COMSEC) equipment and controlled cryptographic items (CCI) which protects generic to Defence telecommunications networks, systems and platforms classified up to SECRET AUSTEO in strategic, operational and tactical environments.


This position is required to:


  • Liaise with external and internal agencies to Defence and be a subject matter expert on all COMSEC related issues for Defence projects, operations, exercises and training.




  • Work as part of a team, in the futures/plans space, with the other DCCA COMSEC managers for proposed telecommunications network, system and platform projects to be employed in the strategic, operational and tactical environments.




  • Remain on Notice to Move (NTM), as detailed in CDF’s annual Capability Preparedness Directive, in support of keying material distribution functions, compliance and assurance tasks in operational theatres.




  • Support CIS and COMSEC planning for all Defence, Joint major exercises and operations, as required




  • Support COMSEC Manager -Controlling Authority and Training (CM-Def CONAUTH & TS) for the development of the Defence COMSEC Custodians Course (DCCC) Training Management Package (TMP)




  • Support the delivery of COMSEC courses, including electronic keying material distribution system courses conducted through the capability manager (ASD) and the Defence Force School of Signals, as required.




  • Conduct COMSEC compliance checks on COMSEC accounts, IAW DCCA schedule.




  • Assist and advise in the review and re-writing COMSEC instructions, response to COMSEC enquiries, incidents and formal messages.




  • Assist in the development of draft doctrine and procedures according to policy and procedures promulgated by ASD and DSA.




  • Carry out the duties of DCCA Duty Officer as directed by SO2 COMSEC Plans.


Eligibility
