Duties
No. PS34 - 24 Aug 2017
Vacancies exist for EL1 Contract Managers in the Australian Geospatial-Intelligence Organisation (Canberra) and the Australian Hydrographic Office (Wollongong). As a member of these organisations, you will be contributing to the lives and safety of Australians at home, and overseas. The Australian Geospatial-Intelligence Organisation (AGO) makes a critical contribution to Defence and Government by providing accurate and timely geospatial intelligence to support decision makers at all levels. The geospatial intelligence which AGO provides is increasingly being recognised as a critical element for Australia’s National Security and Defence interests. The AGO is experiencing substantial growth as a result of the Defence White Paper, and has the responsibility of delivering a number of exciting Major Capability Projects.
The Australian Hydrographic Office (AHO) is the location of Australia’s national hydrographic and charting authority. Equipped with extensive maritime geospatial information resources, the AHO is responsible for managing hydrographic data and producing nautical charts and other products to support Australia’s maritime interests and Defence operations, ensuring safety and environment protection. Both roles entail active management and participation across complex procurement activities encompassing millions of dollars in value. These roles provide a unique opportunity to be involved in building Defence’s future Geospatial Intelligence capability and ensuring delivery of requirements set out in the Defence White Paper (2016) and the First Principles Review.
Your role in delivering leadership, policy guidance and legislative advice, with regards to complex procurement, will make a valuable contribution to Australia’s Defence and National Security; and will provide a shared sense of purpose within the Australian Intelligence and Geospatial communities. A strong background or relevant experience in the field of Australian Government contracting and procurement legislation, policies and procedures is highly regarded.
Further enquiries can be made to the relative Contact Officer:
• Canberra: (02) 6127 7164
• Wollongong: (02) 4223 6674
Eligibility
Prior to commencement successful applicants will be required to undergo a psychological assessment and an extensive security clearance process. As a Positive Vetting clearance is required, applicants must be Australian Citizens; be able to account for their personal background for their whole life; and be able to demonstrate suitability to work in a high security intelligence environment. For more information refer to the Information Pack.
