Duties
The Bureau of Meteorology is Australia's national weather, climate and water agency. Its expertise and services assist Australians in dealing with the harsh realities
of their natural environment, including droughts, floods, fires, storms, tsunami and tropical cyclones. This position is within the Bureau's National Forecasting Services Group which delivers forecasting and warning services to emergency services and the general community. Reporting to the General Manager Public Safety, the National Manager,
Extreme Weather Services, is responsible for management of the Bureau's Tropical Cyclone, Storm, Fire and general severe weather services.
This important and challenging role oversees the planning, organisation and coordination of Extreme Weather Services throughout the Bureau, and in particular, prepares plans for the provision of these services throughout Australia. This position also has a key coordinating and planning role in strengthening the operating infrastructure necessary for providing these services as well as exploring innovative ways of delivering services.
The National Manager, Extreme Weather Services will represent the Bureau at inter-departmental, major national and international stakeholder forums and committees related to the operation of severe weather warning services and is involved in extensive coordination and consultation with State Government disaster mitigation and emergency management authorities.

A degree or diploma of an Australian institution, or a comparable
overseas qualification, which is appropriate to the duties OR other comparable qualifications, which are appropriate to the duties
