Duties

The Australian Aged Care Quality Agency (Quality Agency) is responsible for assessing the performance of aged care services across Australian against applicable standards. These assessments form the basis on which the Quality Agency makes its statutory decisions and determines the nature and extent of compliance monitoring activities covering: residential aged care services, home care services, Commonwealth home support program services and National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Flexible Care Services.
The Quality Agency is offering full-time ongoing and non-ongoing opportunities in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, Tasmania and Perth, to become a Quality Surveyor/Senior Quality Surveyor. The non-ongoing positions are for a minimum 12 month period. Successful candidates will be required to successfully complete a training program with the Quality Agency that is internationally accredited by the International Society for Quality in Healthcare, (ISQua) leading to registration as a Quality Assessor.
All Quality surveyors must be registered as Quality assessors under the Quality Agency Principles 2013. Details of Quality assessor registration, including requirements and obligations, are available on our website.
The following are the key responsibilities of a Quality Surveyor:

  Assess the quality of care and services provided through aged care services against the applicable standards
  
• 
  Interview care recipients and their representatives about the quality of care and services provided through an aged care service.
  
• 
  Collect and analyse evidence to make findings;
  
• 
  Prepare and write reports to inform statutory decisions;
  
• 
  Work effectively as a team member to achieve organisational goals;
  
• 
  Manage internal and external stakeholder relationships;
  
• 
  Represent the Quality Agency with credibility and professionalism;
  
• 
  Provide information and training to aged care services to improve performance against the standards, promote high quality care and continuous improvement.
  

Eligibility

The Quality Agency is seeking people with backgrounds and experience in the following roles:

• 
  Systems auditors
  
• 
  Human service managers, e.g. disability services, indigenous services, services delivered to culturally and linguistically diverse consumers
  
• 
  Quality Improvement managers
  
• 
  Health professionals
  
• 
  Professional standards or human services investigators
  
• 
  Complaints managers
  
• 
  Aged Care sector experience, home care, community care and residential care
  
• 
  Adult educators
  

To succeed, applicants will have strong inter-personal and communication skills, an ability to understand, analyse complex situations, and sound IT skills to write reports using mobile device technology. A driver’s licence is mandatory.

Notes

These roles involve regular travel away from home within each state to aged care services in rural and regional centre’s with consecutive weeknight stays each fortnight.
These roles are broadband classified APS5/6 and as such the range of salary will commence at $70,694 up to a maximum of

$89,186. The salary offered will be subject to experience of the successful candidate/s and upon registration as a Quality assessor. In addition, 15.4% superannuation will be paid.
