Recommendations of the Advisory Committee in the Meeting of the Advisory Committee held on March 23, 2010
The Committee scrutinized the progress made by the CAS-Department (Institute of Radiophysics and Electronics) during the reported period (2009-2010) based on the presentations of the Head of the Department, CAS Coordinator and teachers of the Department, as well as on the deliberation, following the presentations.
During the reported period, the Institute of Radiophysics and Electronics (CAS-Department) has carried out commendable academic and research work, which has been evidenced by the publication of papers in peer-reviewed national and international journals, publication of books, presentation of papers and invited lectures in national and international conferences, in the areas of the Programme. The significant and consistent rise of publications from year to year has been a true reflection of the success of young faculty members.
The Committee expressed satisfaction that a Memorial Seminar for late Prof. M. K. Dasgupta was held in the International Year of Astronomy having utilised the fund of the UGC Networking Resource Centre. The Committee suggested that the Centre should submit a proposal for collaborative project with e.g., IUCAA-Pune and similar institutions on technology related to radio astronomy on the practical development of high power antennas to the appropriate funding agency.
