Research Findings
More than 12 GST proteins were characterized in various tissues of rat, rabbit, pigs, guinea pigs, sheep, human and chick embryo.

In rat brain alone the existence of 12 GSTs were reported and characterized, these GSTs exists from pI 3.0 to pI 11.0 for the protection of oragns was reported.

The expression of four subunits of glutathions S-transferases in rat brain tissues was determined. At first time a new subunit belonging to p-class GST was reported.
In cytosolic GSTs the existence of triple subunits were reported just as to microsomal GSTs.
Involvement of brain GSTs in the production of prostaglandin D was reported.
Co-translational insertion of Se during the synthesis of glutathione peroxidase I was reported. TGA codon was also reported.
(2) During guidance of Ph.Ds
Expression of metallo-proteins to selenium in chick embryos.

    1. Requirement of more of antioxidants during ageing in urban people and in industrial workers.

    2. Induction of lipid peroxidation during exercise and use of vit. E in its regulation in rats.

    3. Induction of Glutathione S-transferases in exercised rats.

    4. Induction of secondary defense during carcinogenesis.

    5. Characterization of Antioxidant isolated from Neem seeds.

    6. Biphasic responses of the GSTs using various xenobiotics were reported in rats, mice and chick embryos.

    7. Isolated active ingredients that can convert the damaged cell to normal cell

    8. Reported the protection of cells by isolated plant secondary metabolites.

    9. Chromosomal damage was observed in blood cells and sperm of various systems by cadmium and acrylamide
