2098 1932 Airmail cover from USA franked Washington 1c (2) & 3c, tied by "New Haven Conn OCT 31 1932" duplex pmks, plus additionally franked China airmail 15c to pay for air carriage within China, this tied by New Haven machine pmk & Shanghai cds. To Changsha with b/s of "Shanghai 22 NOV 32" machine & Changsha cds. VF. Sent by the scheme whereby mail would be carried internally by air in foreign countries if the correct air stamps for that country are affixed. The necessary stamps were stocked in some countries for this purpose & this scheme is listed in the Australian PO guide of the period.
