1564 1860-61 QV Registered (6d) olive-yellow, clean-cut perf 14½, wmk "small star", London printing, with large part of the special "CANCELLED" barred h/s applied by Perkins Bacon. (This being one of the so called "Ormond Hill Specimens" when in 1861 Perkins Bacon supplied 6 examples of many of their current & earlier issues to Rowland Hill's son in law. Despite the fact that all these stamps were obliterated with the "CANCELLED" h/s, the Agent-General for the Crown Colonies vehemently objected, and this led directly to Perkins Bacon losing their stamp printing contracts to Thomas De La Rue). SG 11(var) cat £9,000+++ & worth big premium as the best quality example known & especially desirable with such a large portion of the h/s. Great rarity as only 6 examples produced & the most important Queensland "specimen" stamp. 2005 Ceremuga photo-cert. (P) $16000 $20000
