Death of Mansur
On his way to Makkah Mansur fell ill and died at the age of
• about sixty-five after a reign of nearly twenty two years in his camp three miles away from the city in Dhu’l Hijjah 158/7th October 775. He was buried at Makkah and one hundred false graves were made so that his grave might not be desecrated by his enemy. In 767 Mansur appreciated the services of his cousin Isa b. Musa and

declared him his heir but latter he compelled him to relinquish his claim in favour of his own son Mahdi.
