Romans Retire to Syria After about a fortnight’s journey, the Muslim army encamped at a place called Tabuk, that lay between Medina and Damascus, awaiting to hear further news about the movements of the enemy. The Romans had their spies all over the country and had been informed of Holy Prophet’s preparations for war and knew that he had come to meet them and retrieve the loss of Muslims at Mutah.
