Among the spectral and pseudo-spectral methods developed to solve partial differential equations, expansions in series of Hermite polynomials seem to be rarely used. In some problems, however, it is natural to resort to them, for instance to solve certain partial differential equations of the Fokker-Planck type, where the role of space variable is played by an angle, but the velocity variable runs over the full real line (hence, expanding in Hermite polynomials seems most appropriate).
