TD S2 160019 LS from SA WG3: LS on new security work item for NB-IoT. (SA WG3) (Revision of TD S2 154134).
Abstract: SA WG3 has noted that: - RAN Plenary has agreed the Narrowband IoT work item. - SA WG2 have agreed some conclusions in the FS_AE_CIoT study item (communicated to SA WG3 LS in TD S2 153695, with TR 23.720 v1.1.0 ) - we anticipate that SA WG2 will agree a work item for normative NB-IoT work at its meeting of 16-20 November 2015. SA WG3 can see that some security work will be required to support this activity, and (subject to SA Plenary approval) has agreed a new Building Block work item to do it. The objectives are to specify security aspects as needed to support the solution developed by SA WG2. SA WG3 considers in particular that liaison between SA WG2 and SA WG3 will be needed for the collective work of those groups on NB-IoT to be successful.
Action: SA WG3 kindly asks SA WG2, CT WG1 and RAN WG2 groups to take the above into account.
