TD S2 160079 (P-CR) Control plane function providing pre allocated GTP U IP address and TEID to the user plane function (during restoration scenario). (Source: Cisco Systems, Inc).
Abstract: For supporting the user plane session restoration case, it is proposed that control plane can provide previously allocated GTP-U IP address and TEID to the user plane.
Discussion and conclusion:
Alcatel-Lucent commented that the restoration procedures should be generalised and not made specific to CUPS. Huawei added that this needs to be solved, but not on a per-UE basis. ZTE agreed with this. Cisco commented that even if restoration is performed in the User Plane, the Control Plane needs to provide information to the User Plane for this. It was suggested to clarify in the description that this is restoration is independent of the allocation procedure used. This was left for off-line discussion and was revised in TD S2 160562 which was reviewed. Further corrections were needed and this was left for off-line discussion and revised in TD S2 160856. This was left for e-mail approval. e-mail revision 4 was agreed. Revised in TD S2 160921. Approved.
TD S2 160239 (P-CR) Considerations of GWU GTP U TEID allocation and IP address Selection via Control Plane function. (Source: ZTE).
Abstract: In this contribution, the control plane based vs. user plane based controlled for the 'P-GW GTP-U TEID allocation and IP address selection' is discussed and the CP vs. UP solutions are compared to justify the conclusion.
