Description of the study course

Title of the study course: Job legislation and job protection.
Title of the study programme: Personnel management
Amount: credit points– 4 ECT – 6 contact lessons– 32
Author and lecturer of the course: Master of jurisprudence Uvis Kozlovskis.
Aim of the course:

To give the future personnel managers an idea about the place of work and job protection rights in the national legal system in compliance with the professional standard, introduce students to the normative base of work and job protection rights in Latvia, to form an understanding of the impact of the laws and regulations of transnational international formations on the employees and employers’ rights and duties, to form the skill to apply the acquired knowledge to practice.


Contents of the course

The study course Job legislation and job protection acquaints both with the theoretical conclusions and laws and regulations in the sphere of employment rights and job protection by highlighting the employees and employers’ rights and duties, as well as the social guarantees, promoting students’ determination to form a civil society.

The form of assessment of the acquisition of the study course:

During the acquisition of the course students complete two knowledge and skills test works, the topic is specified at the topic is specified at the beginning of the course). The course is concluded by a written examination in the form of a test.


Expected result, the knowledge, skills and competencies to be acquired

To improve the communicative skills, to promote the improvement of the value system, to develop the skill to solve juridical issues as well as express and substantiate one’s opinion.


The course is delivered in Latvian.
