Mastering the discipline “Fundamentals of Scientific Research” is aimed at training students in 
methodological fundamentals and organization of scientific research; organization of reference and information 
retrieval on the topic of research in the system of scientific and technical libraries and by local and global computer 
information networks; analysis and evaluation of information and research and development processes in education, 
philology, linguistics, teaching foreign languages and in another fields of national economy; guidance, principles and 
facilities of optimization of scientific research; preparation of facts, which documenting results of research scientific 
work (scientific report, article, talk, thesis, etc.)

The subject study of the discipline "Fundamentals of Scientific Research” is the problem of pre-setting the 
methodology of scientific creativity for beginner-researchers, the organization of scientific work, the use of methods 
of scientific knowledge and the application of logical laws and regulations in practice.

General notions about science. Science is a special kind of cognitive activity of a person, aimed at obtaining, 
substantiating and systematizing objective knowledge about the world, a person, society, and knowledge itself, based 
on a person transforms reality. Under science, we will understand the Humanities, philological science with special 
emphasis on linguistic science. In some cases, we will distinguish the language as teaching science. 
Science at the same time is: 
- one of the forms of public consciousness; 
- 
the scope of human activity is the main function of the development and theoretical systematization of reality 
objective knowledge; 
- 
complex activities to obtain new knowledge and its (activity) result - the sum of knowledge, based on the 
scientific picture of the world; 
- 
designation of individual special branches of scientific knowledge.
