Main outcomes and activities
-
Application of the TUNING methodology to our activities. Extension of this methodology to the doctoral program.
-
Diffusion of a book and CD-ROM, with an overview of the curricula available in EIE in Europe, and their transition to the BMD system, emphasising the structures and contents of these curricula, in order to try to bring out a generic approach.
-
an overview of the ECTS available, which can be helpful in our quest .
-
Completion of existing databases with information on the Bologna process.
Targets
Other TN partners, students associations of HEI, THEIERE lead sites, involved in the development of common curricula in each speciality, DG Education and Culture.
3.3. -Innovative features, added value and spin-offs
The main new and innovative results for this project are:
-
Survey of the present situation of the Bologna process in the European space.
-
Application of the Tuning methodology to our results. We have considered in our budget the possibility of having a TUNING expert ( one of the TUNING members- K. Isaacs, has already been contacted), to provide feedback and on-going monitoring and evaluation of our results.
-
A reflection on the implementation of quality assurance practices in European Higher Education.
The Quality control group and the Didactics Support group formed during the tast 2 years of the THEIERE TN's activities will work in close co-operation with the TUNING specialist.
-
The diffusion of the book and CD-ROM will provide guidelines for implementation of the BMD ( Bologna) process in each country, namely in the new associated countries.
-
We will extend the methodology developed during the TN period, to a more detailed survey and analysis of doctoral programs in Europe.
-
We will co-operate with other thematic networks in the fields of what we called "Science for engineers" ,(Techno TNs), in order to have a more global view, and we will also co-operate with some transversal thematic networks, specialised in ODL and LLL, for instance. This problem of adaptation of curricula is indeed shared by all the Thematic Networks. Contacts were already established with other Thematic Networks and we have participated in the Techno TN Forum held in Brussels 13th and 14th February 2004, in order to build "competence's archipelagos".
-
-Contacts and co-operation are already on the way with EUA (European University Association) and the student association (ESIB).
The set of tools developed in the project can also act as a virtual library freely usable within LLL (Life Long Learning) /ODL (Open Distance Learning) context enabling the training and knowledge updating of a large number of students and engineering professionals in Europe.
