INSTRUCTIONAL CONSIDERATION

MY TEACHING PHILOSOPHY
Teaching is very hard job to deal with, because in one class there are 16-30 pupils in the class and every learner has their own identity, including race, gender, background, social class, personality, and also different learning styles. That's why working with them at the same time and in one class makes difficulties for teacher. In order to teach the students perfectly and keep balance in the levels of learners the teacher uses different methods and approaches while teaching. As to my way of teaching I give a chance for my students to make mistakes and correct them by themselves. Supporting them with motivation to learn and make them inspired and eager to learn is my aim in teaching. In order to learn something new learners should feel self-confidence. As to Krashen's (1985) ʼʼ Affective filter hypothesisʼʼ their motivation and self confidence ought to be high and their anxiety must be low in order to achieve success in learning, as a result they can become perfect users of the target language. To achieve this they should not be always criticized by the teacher. Because over critical environment can avoid their motivation and self-asteem ( ). During the lesson I use various methods and approaches to teach. I choose methods and activities for my learners according to their level and age. My first method is TPR. As I work at elementary school and my learners are in the level of beginner and elementary I mostly try to use it. Because as Asher (1977) stated that TPR is more practical than other methods for young learners, because it can capture all other methods in it. In the class if I teach new words, I read loudly the word two times and then they repeat after me. We do it 3-5 times in order to keep remembered words for a long period. The second method of my teaching the language is TBLT. I always give tasks and activities to strengthen the topic and vocabulary. The learners should practice the new knowledge on their own. And for that reason I always give a chance them to practice. Mostly, I use student-centred classes, because I think in order to learn something, if pupils try themselves, it will be more successful. In student-centred classes pupils work as a group peer or individual and by these cooperative activities they will gain a chance to show their knowledge and also share their input to their groupmates. My learners are infants and so I always try to mark them with high grades and make rewards for the winners in order to motivate them to study more. When I give presents for winners, they feel self-confidence and happiness from their results and then next activities they try harder and harder to win and achieve the prize. In my opinion every learner has their own ability and inner power to learn and teachers just open their soul and that inner power and increase their motivation to achieve high results in teaching.
