Static Correction and Application in Seismic Reflection Method
In seismic reflection method, in order to compute static corrections, which are an essential step for land seismic processing, near surface should be modelled. To model this near surface, depths and velocities are obtained from uphole shooting and seismic refraction at discrete locations in the field. Then, by using an interpolation technique, these values are acquired for each station point along the seismic line. There is another method which is based on computation of static corrections in seismic data process center by picking first breaks from seismic reflection data.
In this thesis, both the static corrections that were obtained from uphole shooting and seismic refractions in the field and the static corrections that were obtained from first break picking were applied to seismic reflection data. At last, seismic data with these two static correction applications and without any corrections were compared. According to this comparison, it is observed that the static corrections, which are obtained using two different methods, affect seismic data considerably positively.
