Implementation of Monitoring and Analysis Method on Railway Safety Management System
The importance of safety is increasing day by day with the increasing speed of railways. In this context, Safety Management System (SMS) that was established firstly by European countries has also been established within the body of Turkish State Railways (TCDD) in Turkey. The important component of SMS, Accident and Incident Management, includes the investigation of these railway accidents and incidents and safety measures to be taken to avoid from these type of railway accidents and incidents after the accident and incident occured.
Prevention and Recovery Information System for Monitoring and Analysis (PRISMA) method that is related to the Accident and Incident Management component is used for investigating incidents rather than accidents and then for being taken necessary safety measures. In this way, the accidents are being prevented and railway operations are performed safely.
The target of the method PRISMA that human error in the chemical industry processes was managed but later this method has been used in the steel industry, energy generation, health care and railway.
The main objective of the PRISMA method is to create a digital data base in order to develop a optimal countermeasure for the results arising from process deviations and incidents.
