Thermomechanıcal Analysıs of A Multı-Layered Reınforced Plastıc Coatıng on A Metal
In recent years, the use of directly bonded polymer-metal hybrid (PMH) materials is required especially in automotive industry. Example of modules in the research focus could be the transmission and differantial enclosures due to their low strength/density ratio resulting from the use of steel or die-cast aluminum in their construction. The high reaction forces created during transmission of power at shaft supports in the enclosures require the use of high strength materials. Moreover, the stability of shape and strength under heated enviroment as well as impactive and abrassive loadings have lead to the selection of metallic alloys for design and construction. In terms of economic and environmental concerns, an automotive product, on the other hand, needs to have high specific strength. This can only be achieved by the integration of polymer materials into these modules. In this thesis, a feasibility study regarding the development of a hybrid material by computer aided design and analysing as consisting of thin-walled metal/thermoplastic-polymer/thermoestting-polymer layers will be carried out.
