Studies on The Biotopes of The Zekeriyaköy - Valley
A great deal is being written and said about human-caused environmental problems and its potential results. So that it is generally agreed today that conservation of natural resources is the fundamental topic of environmental sciences.
Nature conservation is the most important part of the landscape planning studies. According to Hackett, landscape planning is defined as a creative conservation. In modern sense nature conservation is the protection of geological and biological diversity. Within this context landscape ecology can be played role in this practices.
The purpose of the study is to produce a more complete understanding data about floristic diversity of the biotopes of Zekeriyaköy-Valley. For this purpose widespread biotopes determinated according to examining of Forest Management Map, Satellite image (IKONOS) and landscape observations. In the next step field studies were carried out from 2011 to 2012 in order to determine the floristic diversity of biotopes of Zekeriyaköy-Valley.
Most parts of the study field consisted of forests, affoerstations, settlement, bushes and grassland vegetation types. In the conclusion of this study it is determined that close natural biotopes has 332 taxa belonging to 77 families and 241 genera. In settlements areas 385 taxa (native and exotic species) were determined. Of all the collected native specimens, 6 taxa are endemic for Turkey. In the distribution of the taxa according to floristic regions, Euro-Siberian elements ranked first, with a rate of 23.80%; followed by Mediterranean elements, with a rate of 20.80%; Irano-Turanian, with a rate of 0.9% and 46.77% of the taxa are of unknown region or widespread. According to life form spectrum Hemicryptophytes and therophytes plants are dominantly in the study area. When the extinction situation of the taxa determined in the study area was examined, it was established that 13 plant taxa were in IUCN threat categories.
At finally represantative biotope map and floristic findings are evaluated according to the result of the study.I hope so this study provide a basis on which to make management decisions on local government and also on other related initiatives through biotope mapping and landscape planning.
