An Investigation of The Role of Chromosomal Radiosensitivity in Prediction of Prognosis of Breast and Colon Cancer Patients
The different prognosis of cancer patients after radiotheraphy depend on the answers of different sensitivity of tumor cells. Individual treatment procedure is a need for sensitive individuals not to expose excess of high dose radiation and also to eliminate the recurrence of cancer in restistant individuals.
This doctorate study was performed with breast and colon cancer patients. Technique of MN was used to determine the differences in radiosensitivity of cancer patients showing different prognosis after radiation treatment. The presence of ‘‘predictive’’ tests supplying an information about different prognosis after treatment will supply optimum efficiency to patient by using individual treatment plan for self. The chromosome radiosensitivities of peripheral blood lymphocytes of patients taken before treatment procedure were investigated to determine the role of nucleoid proteins which supply structural integrity to chromosomes and the amount of glutathione molecule effective on oxidative metabolism over the role of prognosis of patients after treatment procedure.

When the spontaneous and absolute MN frequencies related to breast and colon cancer patients were compared, no significant differences were detected. In both two groups comparisons between PI’s showed no significant difference. When the spontaneous and absolute MN frequencies related to GSH measured in the lymphocytes of breast and colon cancer patients were compared, no significant differences were detected between GSH levels and MN frequencies. Nucleoid protein profiles between different cancer patients showed no difference.
