Temporal Changes of Phytoplankton Species in the Gulf of Gemlik and

Ecological Properties of the Environment
As a result of the study, which was carried out to determine the abundance of the phytoplankton species and ecological characteristics of the environment in the Gulf of Gemlik, total of five phytoplankton groups inlcudes Cyanophyceae, Dinophyceae, Dictyochophyceae, Bacillariophyceae and Chlorophyceae classes were detected.
In the study, 2 species at genus level belong to the class Cyanophyceae (1.30%), nine genus in of 83 species belong to the class Dinophyceae (53.90%), 3 species belong to the class Dictyochophyceae (1.95%), fifteen genus in of 64 species belong to the class Bacillariophyceae (41.55%), and two species at genus level belong to the class Chlorophyceae (1.30%) were recorded. Total of 154 phytoplankton species were detected and 5 new species (Amphisolenia laticincta, Cochlodinium sp., Gynogonadinium aequatoriale, Heterocapsa rotundata and Metaphalacroma sp.) WERE is provided as new record for the ​​Turkish Seases.
During the study, seawater temperature between 8.11 (March 2011, st. 5, 20 m) and 29.30 oC (August 2010, st.11), salinity between ‰ 15.93 (October 2010, st. 3) and ‰ 38.65 (September 2010, st. 3), dissolved oxygen between 2.06 mg l-1 (Jun 2010, st. 3, 50 m) and 15.55 mg l-1 (May 2011, st. 4, 0.5 m) have changed. The effect the Mediterranean water according to salinity values started to appear of more than 30 m from, this effect is taken into account all the sampling period of 30 and 50 m deep in the periods between July 2010 and January 2011 have been noticed.
During the study, the amounts of NH4-N to be 0.02 to 1, 83 mg-at l-1, PO4-P values ​​0.02 mg-at l-1 (February 2011) at the 2.96-mg l-1 (June 2010) ranged while. Where the vertical sampling stations during the study period silicate-Si values ​​measured at 0.08 mg-Si l-1 (January 2010) and 38.11 mg-at Si l-1 (March 2011), the range has changed. During the study period, the highest levels of nitrite + nitrate-N values was observed at the vertical sampling station, especially 1, 2 and 3, from the surface to a depth of 50 m in April 2011. The maounts of NH4–N, PO4-P and SiO4-Si were ranged as 0,02–1,83 µg-at l-1, 0,02-2,96 µg-at l-1 and 0.08-38,11 µg-at Si l-1 at the vertical sampling stations.
As a result of study the analysis of the water quality for the Gulf of Gemlik ​​based on chlorophyll-a values, high water quality and oligotrophic status, good water quality and low mesotrophic status at only 30 to 50 meters was detected during teh study. In the study, low water quality and high-mesotrophic, bad water quality and eutrophic situation has arisen at water column between 0,5-20 m due to the differences in seasonal changes in chlorophyll-a densities.
