| Investigation of Liquid – Liquid Equilibria of Water – Carboxylic Acid – Solvent Mixture Quaternary System
In this study, liquid – liquid equilibrium (LLE) data of water – carboxylic acid – solvent (Dipropyl ether + Diisopropyl ether) mixture at 298.2 K were determined experimentally. Acetic acid was used as carboxylic acid. Diisopropyl ether and dipropyl ether at specific proportions were used as solvent mixtures. These proportions were; % 90 Dipropyl ether (DPE) + % 10 Diisopropyl ether (DIPE); % 70 DPE + % 30 DIPE; % 50 DPE + % 50 DIPE; % 30 DPE + % 70 DIPE and % 10 DPE + % 90 DIPE.
Liquid – liquid equilibrium data of water – carboxylic acid – solvent mixture quaternary systems were determined by defining the solubility curves and tie-lines experimentally. The reliability of experimental data were ascertained by Othmer – Tobias and Hand correlations. Additionally, the distribution coefficient and separation factors of each studied quaternary system were calculated and the selectivity graphs were drawn.
