In the competitive global market, the firms will provide a great advantage by reducing the “time to market” of their new products in terms of competitiveness. To be the first in the market was accepted as an advantage formerly. But the firms meeting the expectation of the market rapidly have been pioneering in their sector at present time and have been utilizing from the market opportunuties mostly.
It is obviosus that improvement of the time to market for new products will provide a crucial advantage for the firm by considering that fashion, daily habits and seasonal variations change rapidly such as jewelery sector having shorter life-cycle circles.
In the first section of the thesis, a general overview was introduced and it was focused on why such an approach was needed, in the second section fundamentals of the approach were mentioned and the critics of the approach were stated. In the third section, application steps in project management and the differences with the other planning tools were expressed and finally, benefits of the usage of critical chain approach in jewelery sector for new product research&development activities were stated quantitatively.
Thus, added value which will be obtained by the firms with the usage of this approach was emphasized.
