7.5Common Conditions for HEVC Coding Experiments
Preferred Common Conditions for experiment testing that are intended to be appropriate for both CEs and other experiments were selected by the group and described in output document JCTVC-J11F900.
7.6Software development (to be updated)
It was remarked that in some cases the overhead from checksums is as much as 25% above the core output bit rate. Suggestion: The encoder should not output checksums by default. Decision (SW): Agreed (but the distributed reference bitstreams will include them; a warning message will be put into the directory to inform users about their presence).
The software coordinator had already started integrating bug fixes on top of the HM 3.37 software, and had strongly recommended for proponents of adopted proposals to re-implement them in the latest HM 3.3version and test in this environment before integrating them into HM 48.x. All tools were planned to again be thoroughly tested after integration in HM 48.x.
HM 4.0 should be available within 3 weeks after the meeting, and will be used for CEs. HM 4.1 is planned to be available 3 weeks later.Software HM 8.0 availability (suitable for CTC coding efficiency experiments) was expected within three weeks after the end of the meeting. HM 8.1 was planned to be available three weeks later.
Any adopted proposals where software is not delivered by the scheduled date will be rejected.
