Preface
Unfortunately, in the Church today, the study of prophecy has been forsaken under the assumption that one can’t really know for sure what it all means and therefore we should refrain from teaching it. Yet, when you think about it, this is actually a slap in the face to God; for a majority of the Holy Scriptures deal directly or indirectly with prophetic issues. Why would God put prophecy in the Bible if it wasn’t meant to be understood? Do we dare say that He is playing cat and mouse with us? In addition, how can one say that they are being faithful to present the whole counsel of God when they leave a major portion of it, prophecy, out of the picture? Furthermore, Bible prophecy has a wonderful way of bringing home two crucial truths that seem to be long forgotten in the American Church. One truth is that this world is not going to last forever. A flood destroyed it the first time and the next time it will be by fire. Therefore, this forces you and I the Christian to stop living merely for the temporary things of this world, thus wasting our lives, and instead to get busy storing up treasures in heaven, which last forever. And is that not needed today? Also, Bible prophecy drives home the second truth of God being absolutely sovereign. He is in full control of all things at all times. So much so that God has already mapped out mankind’s history. Therefore, only the student of Bible prophecy can rightly discern the times in which we live. Best of all, because God is sovereign, no matter how uncomfortable things may get, we can still be at peace knowing that our Lord reigns and that He will soon return to take us to be with Him.
What you are about to read will most assuredly shock you and certainly push you out of your comfort zone. If it doesn’t, then you might want to check your pulse. Lest you think I’m making this material up, I invite you to check it out for yourself. This is why everything has been meticulously documented. This is not a time to react in fear but in faith. Our hope is not to be here, but in heaven. Remember, God is sovereign! One last piece of advice; when you are through reading this book then will you please READ YOUR BIBLE? I mean that in the nicest possible way. Enjoy, and I’m looking forward to seeing you someday!

Chapter One

The Jewish People
What I’m about to share with you is a true story. I’m not making it up! This really happened. Here it goes:
“There was man working on his motorcycle on his patio and his wife was in the kitchen. And the man was racing the engine on the motorcycle when it accidentally slipped into gear. The man, still holding on to the handlebars, was dragged through the glass patio doors onto the floor inside the house.
The wife, hearing the crash, ran into the dining room and found her husband laying on the floor, cut and bleeding, the motorcycle laying next to him and the shattered patio door. So the wife ran to the phone and summoned an ambulance.
Because they lived on a fairly large hill, the wife went down the several flights of stairs to the street to escort the paramedics to her husband. After the ambulance arrived and transported the man to the hospital, the wife placed the motorcycle upright and pushed it outside.
Well, seeing that gas was spilled on the floor, the wife got some paper towels, blotted up the gasoline, and threw the towels in the toilet. The husband was treated at the hospital and released to come home.
Upon arriving at home, he looked at the shattered patio door and the damage done to his motorcycle and he became despondent. So he went to the bathroom, sat down on the toilet and smoked a cigarette.
After finishing the cigarette, he flipped it into the toilet bowl while still seated. The wife, who was in the kitchen, heard the loud explosion and her husband screaming. So she ran into the bathroom and found her husband lying on the floor.
His trousers had been blown away and he was suffering burns on his hindquarters and the back of his legs. So the wife again ran to the phone to call the ambulance.
The very same paramedic crew was dispatched and the wife met them at the street. The paramedics loaded the husband on the stretcher and began carrying him to the street.
While they were going down the stairs to the street accompanied by the wife, one of the paramedics asked the wife how the husband had burned himself. She told them and the paramedics started laughing so hard, they slipped and tipped the stretcher, dumping the husband out.
That’s right, he fell down the remaining stairs and broke his arm, all in one day.”1
Now, how many of you would say that’s a pretty bad day? Believe it or not though, I think I’ve actually discovered a day that’s even worse than that one! It goes something like this. It’s when you wake up one morning only to realize that you’re family has totally disappeared. So you run to turn on your TV to see what’s happening and there you watch a special worldwide news report declaring that millions of people all over the planet are missing. Then, you suddenly see your loved ones Bible sitting on the coffee table and it suddenly dawns on you that your family was right after all when they kept telling you about the Rapture of the Church. To your horror, you realize that you’ve been left behind and have been catapulted into the 7-year Tribulation that’s coming upon the whole world. For those of you who may not know, the time of the Tribulation is not a party. It’s an outpouring of God’s wrath on a wicked and rebellious planet. In fact, Jesus said in Matthew 24 that it would be a “time of greater horror than anything the world has ever seen or will ever see again,” and that “unless that time of calamity was shortened, the entire human race would be destroyed!”
But praise God, God’s not only a God of wrath, He’s a God of love as well. And because He loves you and I, He’s given us many warning signs to wake us up so we’d know when the Tribulation is near and His Second Coming was rapidly approaching. Therefore, to keep you and I from experiencing the ultimate bad day of being left behind, we’re going to begin a journey in this book called The Final Countdown. What we’re going to do is look at ten signs given by God to lovingly wake us up, so we’d give our lives to Him before its too late. There’s no time to waste, so let’s get started.
The tenth sign on The Final Countdown is none other then The Jewish People. One of the first and foremost important prophetic events on God’s end time calendar is concerning the Jewish people. In short, if you want to know how close we are to the end, pay attention to the Jewish people. Why? Because from God’s viewpoint, Jerusalem is the center of the earth! Think about it. This is where the line of the Messiah started. King David ruled from there. This is where Jesus the actual Messiah died on a cross. This is where the End Times culminate with the Battle of Armageddon outside of Jerusalem. This is where Jesus returns at His Second Coming and this is where Jesus reigns after His Second Coming.2 It’s all in Jerusalem! Therefore, if you want to know how close we are to the end, you’ve got to pay attention to Jerusalem and the Jewish people. That’s why the Lord prophesied specific events in minute detail that would happen to the Jewish people alone, giving us a clear indication as to when we really are living in the last days. The following are just a few of these specific prophesies being fulfilled today concerning The Jewish People showing us just how close we really are to the last days.
The first End Time Prophecy concerning The Jewish People is that Israel Would Return To The Land.
Isaiah 43:1-6 “But now, this is what the LORD says – He Who created you, O Jacob, He Who formed you, O Israel: “Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name; you are Mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze. For I am the LORD, your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior; I give Egypt for your ransom, Cush and Seba in your stead. Since you are precious and honored in my sight, and because I love you, I will give men in exchange for you, and people in exchange for your life. Do not be afraid, for I am with you; I will bring your children from the east and gather you from the west. I will say to the north, ‘Give them up!’ and to the south, ‘Do not hold them back.’ Bring my sons from afar and my daughters from the ends of the earth.”
Ever since the destruction of the Jewish Temple in 70 AD, the Jewish people have been scattered all over the earth. However, during the past century alone, millions of Jews have returned to Israel fulfilling this very prophecy. In fact, just like the Bible said, they not only came specifically from the east, the west, the north and the south, but they came in that exact order! First from the East, in the early 1900’s when many of the Jews living in the Middle East moved to Israel. Then from the West, during mid-1900’s, hundreds of thousands of Jews living in the West (Europe and the United States) began moving to Israel. Then from the North, during the 1980’s, Russia finally began to allow hundreds of thousands of Jews to return to Israel. Next from the South, Israel struck a deal with Ethiopia’s communist government and on the weekend of May 25, 1991, 14,500 Ethiopian Jews were airlifted to Israel. Now, more Jews are returning to Israel every single year from all over the world. First from the East, West, North, and South.3 Just like the Bible said they would! When? In the last days!
The second End Time Prophecy concerning The Jewish People is that Israel Would Become A Nation Again.
Isaiah 11:11-12 “In that day the Lord will bring back a remnant of his people for the second time, returning them to the land of Israel from Assyria, Lower Egypt, Upper Egypt, Ethiopia, Elam, Babylonia, Hamath, and all the distant coastlands. He will raise a flag among the nations for Israel to rally around. He will gather the scattered people of Judah from the ends of the earth.”
Ever since 721 BC approximately fourteen different peoples have possessed the land of Israel. Yet as we saw, the Bible specifically said that the nation of Israel would one day be reborn. One day they would regain their independence. Can anyone guess what happened on May 14, 1948? That’s right, after waiting centuries and centuries, the people who were scattered all over the world, not only returned to the land, but they also became a nation again! From out of nowhere and against all odds, Israel was reborn. Then in 1967 the Jewish people even recaptured the city of Jerusalem. Just like the Bible said they would! When? In the last days!
The third End Time Prophecy concerning The Jewish People is that Israel Would Be Brought Forth In One Day.
Isaiah 66:8 “Who has ever seen or heard of anything as strange as this? Has a nation ever been born in a single day? Has a country ever come forth in a mere moment? But by the time Jerusalem’s birth pains begin, the baby will be born; the nation will come forth.”
For those of you who may not know, on May 14, 1948, at precisely 4pm, the members of the People’s Council signed the proclamation and the declaration was made that, “The State of Israel is established. This meeting is ended.” Israel not only became a nation again, but it was brought forth as a nation, literally in one day.4 In fact, it was such an obvious fulfillment of Bible prophecy that even the Jewish people themselves knew they were fulfilling a prophecy made over 2,500 years earlier as this report shows:
“The Founding of the state of Israel in 1948 followed a United Nations recommendation for the amicable deportation of British forces from Palestine. Israel’s first Prime Minister David Ben Gurion proclaimed the state’s independence on May 14th 1948 and opened its borders on Jewish immigration. The new state took the Star of David as its symbol.
For centuries, people have predicted the end of the world, through a depression that nearly destroyed a generation, nations were at war, rulers and dictators tried to conquer the world and wipe out an entire race. But one major prophecy was yet to be fulfilled. The rebirth of Israel in 1948 was the super sign. What we haven’t seen happen in the context of all the other prophecies coming true, we haven’t seen, until 62 years ago, the rebirth of the state of Israel.
At the end of WWII, the British advanced the League of Nations mandate for Palestine, which included the responsibility for securing the establishment in Palestine of a national home for the Jewish people. But without American support, the plan would fail.
President Franklin Roosevelt promised Saudi King Saud the United States would not endorse any policy regarding Palestine without notifying them first. But in the spring of 1945, FDR died leading Vice President Harry Truman with the burdens of a complex foreign policy.
Truman faced intense opposition for any plan to create a Jewish State, all the while also facing equally intense support. Eventually he would back the plan for a Jewish State and in May 1948, the President announced his support for UN Resolution 181, a partition plan to divide Palestine between Jews and Arabs.
The United Nations would never have voted Israel as a State had it not been for Harry Truman, who learned from his Sunday School teaching mother at her knee, that if you ever get a chance to help Israel, you ought to help Israel.
Ezekiel 37:25 reads: “They will live in the land I gave to my servant Jacob, the land where your fathers lived. They and their children and their children’s children will live there forever, and David my servant will be their prince forever.”
That was prophesied and you see pictures of the War of Independence in 1948 and the Six Day War, and soldiers, who were somewhat secular, who were not necessarily religious, were weeping because they felt they had translated the words of the prophet.”5
Isn’t it interesting how even the non-religious secular Jewish people recognized the prophetic importance of their becoming a nation again, to the point where they sensed it, they felt it, they even wept over it, but most of us have no clue of the importance of that date and how it proves just how close we really are to the end. Israel not only became a nation again, but it was brought forth as a nation, literally in one day. Just like the Bible said! When? In the last days!
The fourth End Time Prophecy concerning The Jewish People is that Israel Would Be A United Nation Again.
Ezekiel 37:21-22 “And give them this message from the Sovereign LORD: I will gather the people of Israel from among the nations. I will bring them home to their own land from the places where they have been scattered. I will unify them into one nation in the land. One king will rule them all; no longer will they be divided into two nations.”
In about 926 BC, the Jewish people became a divided nation. The Northern ten tribes were called Israel, and the Southern two tribes were called Judah. But when the Jewish people regained independence in 1948, for the first time in 2,900 years, Israel was again united as a single nation, not two.6 Just like the Bible said! When? In the last days!
The fifth End Time Prophecy concerning The Jewish People is that Israel’s Currency Would Be The Shekel.
Ezekiel 45:12,13,16 “The standard unit for weight will be the silver shekel. This is the tax you must give to the prince. All the people of Israel must join the prince in bringing their offerings.”
Here we see how the Bible clearly predicted that in the future temple sacrifices, the people of Israel would not just be paying their taxes, but specifically paying them in shekels. However, the problem is that Israel’s currency wasn’t the shekel but the pound. That is, until 1980, when it just so happened it was changed to the shekel, and they use it even to this very day.7 Just like the Bible said! When? In the last days!
The sixth End Time Prophecy concerning The Jewish People is that Israel Would Blossom As A Rose In The Desert.
Isaiah 35:1-2 “Even the wilderness will rejoice in those days. The desert will blossom with flowers. Yes, there will be an abundance of flowers and singing and joy! The deserts will become as green as the mountains of Lebanon, as lovely as Mount Carmel’s pastures and the plain of Sharon. There the LORD will display his glory, the splendor of our God.”
To understand the significance of this prophecy, you have to first understand the history and characteristics of the land of Israel. From the very beginning, the land that was promised to the Israelites was totally different from the land they came from. They came out of Egypt and the desert to, “The Promised Land.” This “Promised Land” was a good land. In fact, it was called “a good land” sixteen times in the Old Testament, and “a land flowing with milk and honey” twenty-three times in the Old Testament. There was something special about that land.8 Even up to the time of Josephus, a first century Jewish historian, he mentioned how the land was still very prosperous and fertile. He stated:
“For the whole area is excellent for crops and pasturage and rich in trees of every kind, so that by its fertility it invites even those least inclined to work on the land. In fact, every inch of it has been cultivated by the inhabitants and not a parcel goes to waste. It is thickly covered with towns, and thanks to the natural abundance of the soil, the many villages are so densely populated.”9
However, all that changed after nearly 2,000 years of foreign conquerors totally abusing the land. They left it a total complete wasteland. In fact, listen to the comments of people who visited Israel prior to 1948:
“After the scattering of the Jews beginning in 70 AD with the destruction of the Temple, the land became desolate, unable to grow much of anything. During the 2,000 years of Israel’s exile from its land, numerous empires have conquered the Land, and countless wars were fought for its possession. And yet, astonishingly, no conqueror ever succeeded in permanently settling the Land. Neither have they been able to cause it to bloom.
In 1845 Alfon Lamartine said in his book, ‘Recollections from the East,’ that, ‘Outside the walls of Jerusalem we saw no living being, heard no living voice. We encountered that desolation and that deadly silence which we would have expected to find at the ruined gates of Pompey. A total eternal dread spell envelopes the city, the highways and the villages.’
When Mark Twain visited Israel in the 1860’s, he reported that Israel was a barren wasteland with no trees. He said, ‘The further we went the hotter the sun got and the more rocky and bare. Repulsive and dreary the landscape became.’
In describing the territory around the Sea of Galilee, he called it a, ‘blistering, naked, treeless land.’ He spoke of the villages as, ‘ugly, cramped, squalid, uncomfortable and filthy.’ He added that the villages are, ‘a solitude to make one dreary…unpeopled deserts…rusty mounds of barrenness.’
And then he looked towards the barren Judean hills in Israel, and wrote, ‘Close to us was a stream and on its banks a great heard of curious looking Syrian sheep and the sheep were gratefully eating gravel. I do not state this as a petrified fact – I only suppose they were eating gravel because there did not appear to be anything else for them to eat.’
Then in 1905, the Prime Minister of the Netherlands observed, ‘The Jews have come in vain. Only God can check the blight of the inrushing desert.’”10
Interestingly enough, that’s exactly what God did. No foreign conqueror was able to make Israel bloom again, no matter how hard they tried, but when Jewish People began to return to the land, everything changed! They began to immediately work at getting the land back into shape. For them, and them alone, the land began to respond. One author in the 1800’s counted the trees there and reported that there were less than 1,000. Now today, due to a massive tree replanting program, there are over 1.2 billion trees in Israel and half their trees are forest trees, and the other half are fruit trees, and this has not only helped to increase the rainfall by over 450%, but Israel, the former desert, is now the breadbasket of the Middle East and is exporting fruit all over the world.11
Speaking of their fruit, it is out of this world! It’s not only huge it’s incredibly sweet and delicious. That’s because, it just so happens, when the Jewish people arrived, they not only replanted trees, but they began to build a massive network of irrigation systems, high-tech irrigation systems, much further along than the rest of the world. Furthermore, it also just so happens that the water in the soil that they are irrigating there is custom tailored to produce amazing produce. It just needed the Jewish people to pump it out:
“There’s a prevailing thought that says that it’s hard to establish agriculture in the desert. But that’s not necessarily so. When mentioning the desert, one thinks of dryness, heat and desolation. But it turns out that the desert can bloom, be full of life, and yield harvests of fine fruits and vegetables.
Actually if you think about desert as desert, you probably think there is no water, but we find a huge aquifer under the desert which allowed us to use it and actually we can pump it out and make the desert bloom or green with a lot of agriculture.
It turns out the desert climate is good for agriculture, thanks to the ground water under the sand dunes. It’s possible to do a lot of agriculture in the desert, because few reasons. First, we have the perfect weather for agriculture. We can grow vegetables in the winter.
Second, we have the experience and the brackish water that will allow us to do that in a very easy way. Although the groundwater is somewhat salty, it turns out that this saltiness actually improves the fruit. We can produce sweeter and better vegetables.”
What happens when you irrigate the fruits or the vegetables with brackish water is that the plant is in a very serious stress, he’s suffering and he’s producing less leaves and more fruits with less water inside and a lot of meat, what we call, and actually that makes it three times sweeter than usual vegetables.”12
I’m sure it’s just purely by chance that the water under Israel is custom tailored for amazing produce that is much larger and three times as sweet as other areas. Who would’ve thought that the desert could bloom again and produce such amazing quantities? It’s almost like when God said this land was “a good land” and a land “flowing with milk and honey” that it just needed the “right people” to get back there and make it come alive again. I wonder who that is? The Jewish people maybe?
But there’s even more. Israel also diverted the water from the Sea of Galilee and channeled it through sections of the deserts, which have allowed the deserts to literally begin to blossom with an abundance of flowers, even to the point where Israel is now a major exporter of flowers and ornamental plants.13 Just like the Bible said! When? In the last days!
The seventh End Time Prophecy concerning The Jewish People is that Israel Would Have A Powerful Military.
