Word Duplication With ‘M’
Repetition of a word or a portion of a word is a very common device in Turkish.

Here we introduce a pattern where the repeated word always begins with m, but is otherwise identical to the word that goes before it and serves as the model.

If the word begins with a vowel, an m is added to the beginning of the coined word.

adam madam inek minek

ev mev uyku muyku

ışık mışık ördek mördek

If the word begins with a consonant other than m, the consonant is replaced by m in the coined word.

kadın madın su mu yazı mazı

tombul mombul kemal memal
If the word begins with an m, then we use the word falan or filan instead of repeating the word.

masa filan

mektup falan
When there is a duplication as in kitap mitap both are inflected with verb endings.
