Remarks 2002 There are about 500 authorized facilities for the treatment of hazardous waste. There is a total capacity authorized for recovery of
more than 18 million metric tons per year. Most of the facilities also treat imported waste. Facilities for all recovery operations are
available. There are also many specialized facilities (e.g. for electronic scrap or ship-specific waste).
