As my sins get worse and worse, they bring me closer and closer to the fire of Allah, O Allah remove me farther way!

This supplication has 3 parts, because we see ALLAHUMMA 3 TIMES
But how many times do we see KAMAA?
TWICE so the first 2 parts have kamaa
Kamaa is used to draw analogy to something.
This shows us the eloquence of the Prophet pbuh
O Allah remove my sins away like east and west
Then it say o Allah brush sins way like filth is brushed off white clothes
Look at how the Prophet pbuh describes, he merges the two parallels together
O ALLAH WASH ME, (doesn’t talk about clothes) WASH ME FROM MY MISTAKES
HE MERGED 2 TOGETHER, NO MORE KAMAA
WATER SHOULD HAVE BEEN TALKING ABOUT CLOTHES but he merged two together
SINS ARE A NATURAL OBSTACLE TO KHUSHOO, A PERSON CANNOT ATTAIN KHUSHOO WHILE HE IS STILL IMMERSED IN SIN!! A PERSON WILL NOTICE, THE MORE HE CURBS TO TAKE SINS OUT OF HIS LIFE, HE WILL EXPERIENCE HIS SALAH MORE AND MORE, THE MORE HE CUTS SIN FROM HIS LIFE.

The THEME of this supplication is PRAISE AND GLORIFICATION OF ALLAH
SUBHANAKA- 2 words
Subhana- comes from the root word which means TO SWIM
What does that have to do with praising Allah?
SABAHA means to swim in classical Arabic
AL AWM refers to when you swim with your head under water
Sabaha refers to when you swim with head over water
Allah is A LEVEL ABOVE HIS CREATION
Level above fault
Above creation
Just like head is above water
THEN there is deeper reflection in this word as well, -WHATS something required for swimming?
YOU NEED TO CONSTANTLY MOVE,
IF YOU STOP, YOU DROWN, YOU SINK
Similarity, TASBEEH refers to praising and glorifying Allah. It is to remind us that THE ONLY WAY TO STAY AFLOAT IN THE SEA OF TEMPTATION IS TO STAY IN THE REMEMBERANCE OF ALLAH. THE MOMENT WE STOP, WE WILL SINK INTO THE TEMPTATION. We need to constantly to dhikr- remembrance of Allah

BIRKAH – refers to HUGE pond, water that has been sitting around for a long time, 100s of years.
BARAKAL BAEERU- camels, they are very interesting animals, even in their behavior. They are very obedient and very loyal but THEY ACT IN PRINCIPLE, (dogs are loyal and obedient, even if you abuse it. It still remains loyal to you) however NOT camels, if you abuse camels, it will let you know.

Its a powerful way of making the point.
2nd thing, how do we seek blessings from Allah? Allah is the sole source but how do we get it? By the NAME OF ALLAH, WHEN YOU START SOMETHING, WHAT DO YOU START WITH? You say BISMILLAH, when you intend to do something INSHALLAH, when you are impressed by something MASHALLAH,
You seek blessings in your life this way at all times!
WA TA AA LAA
TAA LAA- means for something to be very very high. Means how amazingly high, most high
JADUKA-
JAD-in arabic means RESOLVE, determination,
For humans jad can mean will power,
So we are speaking to Allah, YOUR RESOLVE IS MOST HIGH
Means your resolve, your determination, SUPERSEDES and OVERIDES anyone and anything else.
So when Allah has destined that something will happen, nothing can stop it or change it!

However there are 2 types of LAA- normal laa (no) and then there is a special la which means (ABSOLOUTLY NOT!) (NO WAY, NO HOW, ABSOLOUTLY NO) It removes ANY room for any exception to be made in any way or shape fo form.

THIS SUPPLICATION is derived from versus of Quran. This is a QURANIC SUPPLICATION
THE THEME of this supplication is: MISSION STATEMENT OF A BELIEVER, this supplication teaches us, solidifies us, with what are the objectives of our lives, what is the purpose of our lives, and why we live life.
WAJAHTU – literally means I have turned my face-It comes from the root of the word FACE. Its like the face being verbified. This is why translations DON’T always work. We need to build familiarity with nuances of the word. They have rhetoric and expressions.
When someone says WHATS UP but if you break t down linguistically it doesn’t make sense. Why would I be asking you “tell me items that are facing upword or have a location above me?”…

Ibn Abbas- great scholar of tafsir, he said I was confused about KHALAQAH and FATARA
He said when Ibn Abbas and I would travel, people came to him to get a question answered and they were fighting over a well, who the well belonged to
First one said THIS well belongs to me, I purchased the land and the well is inside the land so I purchased the well
He asked the 2nd person- I AM THE ONE WHO FATARAD the well
It doesn’t just mean CREATE, create is general, you can take 2 things and plop them together and make something CREATE something new
But FA TA RA means ORIGINATE. To make something new,
to bring something into existence for the first time.
FA TA RA means HE ORIGINATED

Lets look at what is means by looking at another word
AHNAF- anyone know what pigeon toes are like-walks with feet inward. But some people have major problems, their feet are severely turned inwards. We don’t see it as much, now we have way to fix it. In classical times you would see people like that, people whose feet were very turned it. So when they walked, their feet would go towards the center
RAJULOON AHNDAR
HA NA FIYA- water tap
Why? Imagine a huge tank of water, what does the faucet do? It FOCUSES water, stream lines all that water into drain
HANEEF- means FOCUSED
I have whole heartedly dedicated myself for the one who originated the heavens and earth and I WILL REMAIN COMMITTED TO THIS (HANEEFAN) I am focused, no looking right and left

MAA- one of the most difficult words to figure out, MA in some places means NO, in some places it means WHAT, in some places means THAT WHICH, (sentence connector) Ma has drastically different uses.
MA- means NO, it’s a negative something
To negate an idea, a concept, a possibility to negate something people have preconceived notions about. This is extracted from the statement of IBRAHIM (alayhisalaam)
The mushrikoon used to claim to follow him

ALMUSHRIKEEN- those people who associate partners with Allah
Mushrikeen- comes from the root of SHIRK, linguistically this also means TO PARTNER.
That’s why in modern Arabic a public trading company is SHA RIKAH, because you can become a partner in it

INNA- its for emphasis, its used to remove DOUBT, it means MOST DEFINETLY, certainly
SALAH- Prayer (worship)

NUSOOK- Plural of the word NASEEKA
In classical Arabic refers to the tools which are used to purify gold and silver. What ever the tools the person uses is called nasseeka, It literally means TOOLS USED TO CLARIFY in the ISLAMIC context it refers to SACRIFICES, the difficulties we endure,

MAHYAA- its comes from the root word HAYAAT(meaning life) . Whenever you have this form, it’s the “-ING” version of a word. This means MY LIVING
Hayaat is interesting word in classical Arabic.
HAYAA- modesty (because in modesty is the quality of life!!)
Istihyaa- to shy away from something , to back away from something, to become embarrassed or shy. You are trying to protect your dignity
HAYWAAN- a living creature, that has life.
HAYA ALASALAH- from adthaan, normally means come to salah- NO it doesn’t!
HAYA in Arabic language form the root word meaning LIFE, hayya means LIVE (structure you life)

SALAH- salah
STRUCTURE YOUR LIFE BASED ON SALAH
There is a very important lesson in that for us!. Our attitude in terms of salah is that we make salah a burden, something we “add on” or “Squeeze” into ourschedule. We need to WORK AROUND OUR LIFE based on salah. Work, school, family, friends. Everything else is priority but not salah.
In the HOME, at home, at wok, YOU SHOULD HAVE A FIXED TIME for salah. That’s called dedication for salah.

HAYATUN- means snake. The word for snake in Arabic comes form the root word meaning LIFE

The arabs sometimes having the habit of giving the name of opposite. So since snakes takes lives they gave it hayatun

Snakes shed, so when ancient arabs saw shedding they thought it was giving life to itself.

When ancient arabs saw snake for the first time, since it sits in a coil, they associated it with how you can tell how old tree is by looking at its rings.So snake tells you how long its been alive by showing you its coils

My prayers, my sacrifices, my living, and even my dying is for ALLAH ALONE, his rabulalaameen, He is the master of the day of judgment
That is what I have been commanded to live by, to spread, and I amongst the muslims

AOODHU- comes from the root word AL AWDTH means TO CLING TO SOMETHING FOR THE SAKE OF PROTECTION for a sense of security. Means awdth
In classical Arabic, they would say a fawn (baby deer) CLINGS to its mother, its constantly standing next to the mother, constantly maintaining physical contact. It does that for the sake of protection. The arabs would call the fawn AWD
AOO DHOO means- I TAKE PROTECTION
ISTIADHAH- means to take protection
The translation “I SEEK REFUGE” is wrong,
The letters “seen” and “ta” add the meaning of SEEKING to a word
Do you hear seen or ta in AUDHU? NO .Its not seek , its I TAKE protection
Because when supplicating to Allah for something, to be a little insistent is loved by Allah.
O ALLAH I NEED YOUR PROTECTION! I NEED IT NOW! You are insisting! The Prophet pbuh used to do this
On the night before the battle of badr, Prophet pbuh was saying O ALLAH YOU HAVE TO SAVE THESE PEOPLE, IF WE DIE, NO ONE WILL WORSHIP YOU PROPERLY ON THE EARTH.
It shows the DESPERATION of the person

SH TA Nun is a LONG ROPE, the 2 ends are very far from each other

SHAYTAN IS VERY VERY VERY DISTANT FORM THE MERCY OF ALLAH
RAJEEM- root word rajm means TO DISCARD SOMETHING, TO THROW SOMETHING AWAY. This word has a negative connotation. When you throw something away carelessly. You throw a rock, that’s called rajm.
When you throw a ball its different, its called RAMU at a target
I take refuge from shaytaan WHO HAS BEEN DISCARDED LIKE TRASH,

The Prophet pbuh defined the poking of shaytaan as the INSANITY OF SHAYTAAN, the craziness of shaytaan what does that have to do with poking?
Example: you are sitting in class and someone sitting behind you and in front. The person in front isn’t paying attention to you in the middle and the teacher is turned around doing something at the board
The person behind you is saying “psst flick his ear”
Hurry, the teacher will turn around
The kid behind you is egging you
Cmon do it do it! He is poking you
What do you turn around and tell him “Are you crazy or something? Leave me alone”
Shaytaan is OBSESSED with us, he is crazy
When we come into the masjid, guess who comes inside the majsid with you? SHAYTAAN
To make sure you don’t pray tahtul masjid, he makes you read the bulletin board (even though nothing has changed)
The Prophet pbuh said as soon as muadthin calls adthaan, shaytaan RUNS FOR HIS LIFE, it terrifies him. He is breaking wind as he runs. The interesting thing is as SOON as the adhtaan finishes, what does he do? He comes right back
“Hey what are you going to eat after jummah?”
He starts messing with you again
HE IS OBSESSSED
NAFAKH- literally means to inflate, to blow air into something, like inflating balloon into ball
The Prophet pbuh described this as the arrogance of shaytaan
When someone is arrogant you say he is FULL of himself, big head,
Shaytaan FANS THE FLAME, he tries to grow it. He fans the flame of your arrogance. Makes you think to another brother “Who does he think he is? Does he know who I am? HOW DARE HE TALK TO ME LIKE THAT”
Shaytaan INFALTES your ego
“I AMTHE MAN”
NA FA Shhh- When you talk, you slightly have spit come out (its filled in your mouth) while you talk, literally that’s what it means, when someone talks they lightly spit at you.
The Prophet pbuh defined this as SHI-RUHOO the ENHANCEMENT of shaytaan, the POETRY OF SHAYTAAN,. Shaytaan goes RIGHT NEXT TO YOUR EAR, if someone talks so close to your ear, they would be spitting on you, SHAYTAAN DOESNT GIVE UP
I TAKE REFUGE FROM ALLAH FROM SHAYTAAN WHO IS DISCARDED
AND REFUGE FROM HIS INSANITY, HIS INFLATTING, HIS ARROGANCE, AND HIS ENHANCEMENT, HIS NON STOP TRYING TO CONVINCE ME, AND TALK TO ME
When do we recite ADUHUBILLAHI?
When ever we recite Quran. When else do we recite it?
-When you have evil thoughts
-When you get ANGRY
Another way to curb anger, when you are standing up, sit down, if you are sitting then laid down
Make wudhu
In salah, do we make wudhu? YES
We say audhubilla? Yes
Stand to sitting:? YES!
SALAH IS ANGER MANAGEMENT PLAN FOR THE BELIEVER!
Salah CALMS A PERSON down
Takes the edge off a person
LOOK AT THE PROPHET PBUH, think about how CALM COOL AND COLLECTED the Prophet pbuh was.
Remember the beduion who urinated in the majsid?
There was NO REACTION, no emotional outburst from the Prophet pbuh!
When young man came to Prophet pbuh and said “I want to commit zina “ in public
When man who took loan from prophet came and forcefully asked to have it paid back
All these instances the Prophet pbuh kept his cool!
SALAH TAKES THE FRUSTRATION AWAY,
Allah says in the Quran “we have 2 types of enemies” 6:112

The letter Ba- in the arabic language has about 12 uses
12 meanings as a WORD in the language

Sometimes Ba can be used to show 2 things are INTIMATELY connected (2 show 2 things are intimately and permanently connected) “the messenger came to you with the truth from your Lord)

Ba can be used to show the cause of something. What comes AFTER ba is the CAUSE of , the reason for, what comes before Ba. “All the chaos in the land and sea is a direct result of what the people have done with their own 2 hands”
In bismillah, Ba means WITH THE HELP OF

Root of SUMOO- means to elevate something
To separate from rest of pact
Root of WISMOON- means to brand or mark something. When we know someone by name its like we brand them with that name.
Which one seems more logical? The SECOND one. In reality it’s the FIRST ONE that is the correct opinion based on linguistic reasons.
