BISMILLAH
I BEGIN WITH THE HELP OF THE NAME OF ALLAH
Who is ARAHMAAN- abundantly merciful
Araheem- constantly merciful
WHO IS ABDUNTLY MERCIFUL, WHO IS CONSTANTLY MERCFIUL
Hadith: An act that is not started by saying bismallah, it is devoid of blessing!”*

HADITH: 2 BIG GIFTS FROM ALLAH
Ibn Abbas narrates
BAYNA MAA JIBREEL- jibrel was sitting with the messenger of Allah
SAMIAN AQEEDAN- he heard a sound from up above
He heard the sound like a door is being open after a long time, it creaks open
He raised his head, this is the door in the heavens, its been opened today, its never been opened EVER before today.
An angel came down from this door,
This is an angel that has descended down to the earth to the ground, this angel has NEVER come down to the earth
This angel said salaam
The angel said “Congratulations, you have been givin 2 gifts, 2 honors that no prophet before you was EVER given before you”
First gift- FATIHA
Second gift- the last 3 ayahs of Surah Baqaarah
ANY TIME YOU RECITE EVEN A LETTER OR A WORD, YOU WILL BE BLESSED WITH REWARD, YOU PRAYERS AND SUPPLICATIONS AND DUAS WILL BE ANSWERED. We will study the LAST THREE AYAH OF SURAH BAQARAH.
We need DIVERSITY in what we read in our salah.
If you have more memorized something, READ IT!
3.01 WE GO INTO RUKU
Top of page 13
We say Allahu akbar,
This phrase is constantly repeated in SALAH!
Allah is greater than BLANK (what ever is distracting you from Allah in salah)
Many times we start salah right, then all of sudden become distracted…something pops into your mind
So when you go into ruku- you REFOCUS, ALLAH IS GREATER THAN MY PHONE BUZZING, THAN KIDS RUNNING LAPS AROUND ME,
Why are you wasting your focus? Especially at such an amazing precious time?!
ADHMUN- bone- strongest part of body
ADHEEM- is the one who is CONSTANTLY FIRM
CONSTANTLY STABLE
SUBHANALLAH
HOW AMAZINGLY PERFECT IS MY LORD THE ONE WHO IS STRONG AND STABLE
Now we want to connect the posture of ruku to the strength and stability.
Why do we say this particular tasbeeh in ruku?
The position in ruku is THE MOST VULRENABLE AND UNBALANCED POSITION in salah
It’s a very awkward position
When in ruku, THE BALANCE OF YOUR BODY IS OFF
Even the strongest person in ruku, if someone ran into them from the side, they would fall down
We are very unstable
Vulnerable
Weak
WHEN WE ARE VULRENABLE, WEAK UNSTABLE, WHAT DO WE ATTIBUTE TO ALLAH? STRENGTH AND STABILITY
We can introduce people to EXTRA THINGS THAT we can recite that we don’t normally do
EXTENDED DHIKR IN RUKU
Normally we say subhanarabialadheem
SUBUUHUN QUDOOSUN-
Sounds like subhana, root is SA BA HA
SubhAAN talks about ABUNDANCE, HOW ABSOLOUTLY ABDUNDANT
SUBHOOHUN- CONSTANCY- how Allah is CONSTANTLY FLAWLESS
QUDUSOON- comes from root word QUDS, implies something to be sacred, holy, pure,
Allah is the one who is SACRED, HOLY AND PURE and He only accepts that which is pure,
We are reminding ourselves , what ever we present to Allah, it needs to be PURE,
It needs to be SINCERE,
SINCERTY IS THE PURITY OF ACTIONS
RABULMALAAKITI WAROOH-
RAB- Lord, master
AL MALAAKI- angels
MALAAIKA- is plural
The singular is ma la koon- one angel
What are the 3 root letters? MEEM LAAM KAAF
This is an interesting situation, the 3 root letters are NOT this
HAMZA, LAAM KAAF!
What the word A LA KA means WHEN THE HORSE BITES DOWN ON THE REIGNS, when does a horse bite down on reins? WHEN ITS RUNNING REALLY FAST. THIS IS talking about angels because angels are like messengers (not like prophets) they run errands, they are given tasks and they are focused on it.
“Allah has made angels as messengers” –Angels are sent on errands
Who do you want for you to do errands? The guy running 25 mph, gets coffee, stops once in a while is that the guy you want?
Or the guys who zips every and shows up and DONE
One thing you need to understand that ARABIC HAS IMAGERY, VERY VIVID LANGUAGE, WORDS HAVE IMAGERY
Malaaika is supposed to make you think about a person who is given a task, an errand
These people on their horses are RUNNING FAST
THIS is the root of the word
MA’ LA KUUN, this is difficult to say, so they smooth it out, they remove hamza and make it MA LA KOON
WA ROOH- soul, sprit
We need to understand this word better
To understand word we need to look at a derivate
Root of this word comes from word meaning REST, COMFORT,EASE
RAA HA- means rest, comfort
TA RA WEEH- the break we take after 4 its called TARWWEHA
MIR WA HA- fan
REEH- refers to cool morning breeze, its nice, comforting
ISTI raa ha-
ROOH- it means go you’re annoying - be gone, give me peace, leave so I can be at peace
When soul is in body, the soul is relaxed
When the soul leaves body its becomes STIFF
ROOH is the soul but here’s something interesting
JIBRILL the angel is also been given the title of AR-ROOH, why? What did gibral bring down with him? The DIVINE revelation , wahi, from Allah, and that is what brings peace, comfort, and ease to the minds and hearts of the people. He is called ROOH
When ever the word rooh is being used in conjunction with the word malaakia, it is referring to JIBREIIL
SO WE KNOW ITS NOT TALKING ABOUT SOUL, ITS TALKING ABOUT JIBREALL
He is sacred, the Lord and master of the angels AND JIBRIAL. Why mention him separately? The Quran mentions him separately as well- because JIBREAL is SYMBOLIC of one of the GREATEST creations of Allah.
When Prophet pbuh saw him, jibrael’s feet was all the way down into the earth, his head was into the heavens
He had 600 wings, when he opened one it covered the entire east, and when he opened the other it covered the entire west.
How amazing he is, think how amazing HIS LORD is!
EXTENDED DHIKR IN RUKU (2)
Top of page 14
SUBHANA- how amazing absolutely perfect Allah is
DHI- it means the possessor of, the one in possession of
AL JABROOT- this comes from root JABR which means to APPLY PRESSURE to something in order to CORRECT.It. to fix it.
Look at derivatives
JABEERA- means SPLINT, or cast, when you break arm or leg, they put splint, because the point of the splint is to apply pressure to allow it to heal properly
FARASOON, JIBAAROON- when a horse runs, its running fast and STRICKING the earth very hard. Its doing it because its being told to do it, its needed in order to run quickly.
TAJBEERUN AL A DHAAM-
JA BA RIYA- a deviant sect, they believe everything is predestined, and that we cant do ANYthing. No point in even trying to be good! We are being FORCED into a direction
TAJNEED ALJIBAARI – forced to enlist in army
JABAROOT- the one who has ability to apply pressure in order to CORRECT
WALMALAKOOT- the one who has COMPLETE ownership
similar to MAALIK
Malik is the one who has OWNERSHIP
This idea of OWNERSHIP is a very important concept
This answers a lot of those fundamental questions
What it implies is
ALLAH is MAALIK, he has complete ownership
What is our role? We are ABD, we are the slaves
Slave means you are the PROPERTY of someone else,
You are like a piece of furniture, possession, YOU ARE OWNED by someone
When you own something, Say my phone, I own, it, no matter what it is
If I smash my phone, no one can tell me I can’t do it. I can do what ever I want with it
That is our relationship with Allah
WE ARE OWNED BY HIM
HE CAN DO WITH US WHAT EVER HE WANTS, ANYTHING HE WANTS
When you realize that, when that really sinks in
It changes your perspective on life
You then come to realize WE HAVE NO ROOM TO COMPLAIN, we are owned
WE NEED TO BE GRATEFUL, we aren’t entitled to anything , we have no rights, we cant demand anything BUT YET LOOK AT HOW MUCH HE GIVES US, HOW NICE HE HIS, HOW MERICFUL HE IS, HE DOESN’T HAVE TO BE SO MERCIFUL! YET HE IS
KIB RIYAA- means TO BE GREAT
Another rule of thumb in Arabic language- “When you increase letters in a word, when you develop a word, you increase the MEANING of the word. If kabeer means greater than, KIBRiya means MANIFEST GREATNESS. Greatness that cannot be ignored, greatness that cannot be denied.
Statements by Bedouins/Arabic poets
“In each and everything there is a miraculous sign that points you to the fact that Allah is one”
Muslim Bedouin
Whats your evidence for believing in Allah?
“he said look, the camel dropping tells you what? A camel was here
Footprints in sand, what does that tell you? Someone was here
This is entire earth full of trees
The sky full of stars, the moon and the sun
The ocean full of waves
Doesn’t this tell you that Allah is there? Doesn’t this make you realize this?
Hadith
Prophet pbuh was walking by and he saw a Bedouin man was supplicating dua
The Prophet stopped to listen to see what they learned (he was a student)
Bedouin said “O you whose eye cant see you, mind cannot comprehend your greatness, people cannot praise you like you should be praised, the incidence that occurs does NOT change you, you are the initiator of change, You do not fear the tribulations of time, Allah knows the exact weight of the mountains of the world
Allah knows the exact value of the oceans of world, Allah knows the exacts drops of rain in the sky, leaves of trees in the world, ALLAH knows exact details of everything the day illuminates with light and the darkness.
One sky cannot hide another sky
One ground cannot hide another ground from Allah
A mountain in its deepest darkness cave cannot hide anything form Allah
The depth of the ocean cannot hide anything form Allah
LOOK HOWTHEY WITNESSED THE GREATNESS OF ALLAH
ALLAH teaches us about IMAAN, we discuss aqeedah, but we don’t discus imaan. The way Quran teaches you imaan, look at the BEUTIFULL SKY
LOOK AT THE CREATION OF THE CAMEL
LOOK AT THE SKY HOW ITS BEEN RAISED ABOVE OUR HEADS
LOOK AT THE MOUNTAINS, HUGE COLLASAL MOUNTAINS
LOOK AT HOW ALLAH SPREAD THE EARTH BENEATH FEET
LOOK AT THE COW- WITHIN THE COW YOU HAVE WAIST, THE BLOOD , AND RIGHT BETWEEN THE TWO YOU GET MILK!
LOOK AT YOURSELVES, DON’T YOU SEE, DON’T YOU REALIZE,
ALLAH Introduces us to imaan by LOOKING AT THE GREATNESS OF ALLAH, Look at the stars in the sky
Look at the creation that grows around you, the different colors
Teacher took family tothe botanical gardens, subhanAllah, the same soil, same water, same sun light,
The leaves of the trees are white.
THIS IS HOW WE LEARN IMAAN, this is what we need to teach our children
ADHAMAA- stability, strength
HOW AMAZINGLY PERFECT THE POSSESSOR OF THE ABILITY TO APPLY PRESSURE TO CORRECT COMPLETE OWNERSHIP , MANIFEST GREATNESS, STRENGTH AND STABILITY- ALL OF THESE belong to who? ALLLAH!
3.02 RUKU
Middle of page 14
After this we stand up from ruku
What do we say?
SAMIALLAH HULLIMANHAMIDYAH
SAMIALLAH –it MEANS to HEAR
But when talking about Allah or in general, SAMI A can also mean TO LISTEN
To listen is AN ACT, hearing is an ability.
SAMI A can mean heard, and listen
Listening to someone is indicative of ACCEPTANCE. He listened to me, he let me speak, he accepted.
So in the case of Allah, Allah hears all, so in this case, Allah heard, Allah listened, ALLAH ACCEPTED
LI- for
MANN- the one who
HAMEEDAH- Him. (Allah)
Means HE PRASIED HIM
ALLAH ACCEPTED FROM THE ONE WHO PRAISED HIM
Battery died

OUR CONNECTION WITH THE PROPHET (SAW)
We know OF the Prophet pbuh, but we haven’t fallen in LOVE with the prophet. We are not transferring the love of the prophet to our children. There is a growing problem about the STATUS of the Prophet pbuh! There is a main stream discussion- “Do we have to follow the sunnah?”, people treat it like an intellectual problem, its NOT it’s a spiritual problem, a problem of the heart.
If a person KNEW WHO THE PROPHET WAS, they would NEVER bring up this question.
It’s a HUGE need to KNOW the Prophet (SAW) and TRANSFER THAT LOVE to our children
There are more attacks on the Prophet (Saw) then EVER in the history of ISLAM.
You will find books upon books against the Prophet (saw), it wasn’t like this in the past,
We have to point the fingers AT OURSELVES FIRST
What information have we shared with the world?
WHAT DO WE KNOW, CAN WE TALK ABOUT HIM ? HIS LIFE? Do we have the knowledge and familiarity to talk about and represent the Prophet? No
The Prophet (saw) was carrying the body of his own son, Ibrahim, to burry him
And people called him ABTAR (the one who has no legacy, nothing to continue)
The reason Allah named the fountain kauthar,”…they say you have nothing, I SAY YOU HAVE A LOT”
Think, how many people named Muhammad?
Whenever we hear his name, we send salaam on him. Millions of people all over the world, send peace and blessings on him many times in the day
After maghrib salah
STORY OF AMMAR IBN YASER
TAYIB- root is appealing, attractive
It can manifest itself sometimes as something is beautiful, pure, good, all different uses for it
When something is attractive or appealing it is tayib
Allah uses it in conjunction with the word HALAL
HALALUN tayib – meaning “Allah commands us in the Quran to each that which is HALAL and TAYIB” meaning something can be halal but not really of good quality, not attractive, not appealing, not appropriate.
Allah uses it when making TAYUMMum
“tayamum saqqedan tayiban”
Allah describes it as TAYIBAN, this is beautiful, its an act of obedience, ibaadah, devotion, dedication.
If you were to describe to someone how we cut an animal, what would they say? Thats disgusting, blood flowing, but Allah describes this as tayib, all you have to do to understand how amazing this is by looking at how they kill animals in an unislamic way, in non halal plants
The Prophet (saw) used the word ISTiTAWBA- to describe cleaning yourself after using the restroom
The Prophet (saw) called it something beautiful
This is cleanliness
There was a companion called AMMAR IBN YAASIR- he was a young man who accepted islam in the early days of islam in Makkah. He wasn’t from a wealthy family. Mother and father were poor, no political influence or power. HE accepted Islam. In those day you had to sneak out to learn about Islam. You would sneak out at night and sneak back in before morning. To talk to Prophet (saw). Parents found out and thought he is mixed up with the wrong crowd. One night parents caught him red handed, WHAT ARE YOU DOING, you know we are not important people, If you get into trouble with the people, we cant get you out of that trouble.
He told his parents, No no, You are confused, I have not mixed up in anything bad, I have become Muslim
(for them that was EVEN WORSE!)
No you are misunderstood, and he tells his parents what the Prophet (saw) told him, imaan, morals. His parents were so effected, they accepted Islam.
It was only a short amount of time before mushrikoon got a hold of them. They would beat them and torture them. They thought oh these people are not influential, no one will care
They would time them to a pole, for days, people would abuse them
Abu jahal grabbed his mother and held a spear over her
Father died
Prophet (saw) told Ammar ibn Yasir to go to Madina
The Prophet (saw) would walk by with tears
When you sacrifice, ALLAH guides to you to what is best.
Ammar ibn Yaser went to Kooba and built a masjid
The Prophet (saw) called him TAYYIB-someone who is attractive and beautiful from his life.
It was used when the Prophet passed away, He passed away early afternoon 10,11am
Abu Bakr (ra) found out that the Prophet passed away
“You were beautiful when you were alive and beautiful when you are dead”
EXTENDED DHIKR GETTING UP FROM RUKU 2/3
An extra supplication after standing up for ruku
Samilahumimanhamidah
You can add on
HAMDAN KATHEERAN TAYIBAN MUBARAKAN FEE
HAMDADN
KATHEERAN
TAYIBAN
MUBARAKAN- comes from root word Baraqah, its means MOST BLESSED.
FEE HEE- in it
HAMDAN- praise
KATHEERAN- abundant
Tayibann- that which is beautiful
Mubarakan- that which is FULL of blessings
The praise of Allah is how we achieve and receive the blessings of Allah in our lives
We notice the sound “AN AN AN AN” , sound repeating, what is this an? If you know little beginner Arabic grammar, its called MAFOOL MUTLAK,
When you want to emphasize something, you want to display emotion, what do you have at the end EXCLAMATION MARK!
Its how you express emotion
In arabic, there is no exclamation mark, THIS IS THE EXCLAMATION MARK, THIS AN AN AN AN
HAMDAN!
KATHIEERAAN!
TAYIBAN!
MUBARAN!
It shows emotion
EXTENDED DHIKR GETTING UP FROM RUKU 3/3
Last extra thing we can say while standing up from ruku
Some languages when you translate from one language to another, the sentence order gets reversed so it gets confusing when you do word to word.
MILa- means to fill up something
MIL ASMAWAATi- may the heavens be filled
WA MIL ARDI- may the earth be filled
Filled with what? PRAISE!
WA MA- this ma is not negation, it means ALL THAT
BAYNA-between
HUMAA- both of them (sky and earth)
MAY THE HEAVENS BE FILLED WITH THE REPASIE OF ALLAH, MAY THE EARTH BE FILLED BE FILLED PRAISE OF ALLAH, AND ALL THAT BETWEEN THEM! AND ANYTHING ELES BEYOND THAT, THAT YOU WISH, MAY ALSO BE FILLED!
MA- that which
SHI’TA- all that you will (what you will)
MIN-from

What do we say
SUBHANA RABIAL ALAA
SUBHANA- HOW ABSOLOUTLY PERFECT, HOW AMAZINGLY FLAWLESS,
is
RABI- my lord, my master
who is
AL ALAA- comes from the root word of U’LOO- the MOST HIGH
Whats the most noble, reputable part of our body? THE FACE
In sujood, we put our face to the ground, the place where we put our feet
The LOWEST POSITION
WE HUMBLE OURSELVES,
The lowest, most humiliating position, we say ALLAH is MOST HIGH
Unfortunately nowadays how do we say the above?
WE JUST MERGE EVERTTHING TOGETHER, how sad and pathetic,
IT MEANS NOTHING!!
IN ARABIC IT MEANS NOTHING,
WE NEED TO SAY IT PROPERLY FIRST
THESE ARE BEAUTIFUL WORDS OF PRAISE
THINK ABOUT IT, HOW ABSOLOUTLY AMAZING AND PERFECT IS ALLAH AND
HOW FLAWED AM I, HOW MISTAKE PROWN AM I
HE IS MY LORD AND MASTER
HE IS MY MASTER
I AM HIS SLAVE
I AM THE LOWEST OF THE LOW
HE IS THEHIGHEST OF HIGH
YOU THINK ABOUT IT
SAYING IT 3 TIMES SHOULD TAKE A MINUTE
Sometimes during the course, we can start to lose the objective, we aren’t here to consume mass amounts of vocabulary, we are here to internalize the vocabulary, to BUILD OUR KUSHOO IN SALAH
Think about what you say, process it
We have concepts, we know ALLAH is the highest, Allah is perfect
We all know that
We have concepts and ideas
Then we have certain words
SubhanAllah, Allahuakbar, but we don’t connect the two!!!
THIS IS HOW, this is biggest secret on how to stop your mind from wandering, how to stop losing focus in prayer
Now that you say subhanarabiyalalla, its MEANS SOMEHING
PG 13
We learned tasbih of ruku
Subhanarabial adheem
Then we learned extra
Subuhun qudusun…
The TWO EXTRA THIGNS IN RUKU canalso be said in SUJOOD
Top of page 16
3.04 SUPPLICATION BETWEEN THE SUJUD
Between the 2 sujoods there is a sitting position. In that sitting there is a beautiful supplication
ALLUMA- O Allah
IGHFIRLEE- this is 3 different words
-
Ighfir- comes from root GA FA RA, it’s root means to COVER SOMETHING. To DRAPE SOMETHING, to COVER SOMETHING UP. That’s why in classical Arabic, MIGHFAR comes from the same root. Means HELMET. A helmet covers the head. It even comes in hadith.
GHAFEER- a HUGE crowd of people. Like aerial shot of hajj. Can you see the ground? No, All you see is people, they cover the ground.
IGHFIR HOO LISOOWAT-
GHA FA RA means to cover. We know its means forgiveness but it means a specific type of forgiveness. It means a type of forgiveness that also COVERS the sin. As IF IT NEVER HAPPENED, NOBODY SEES IT. AS IF IT NEVER HAPPENED. IT’S GONE! IGHFIRLEE,
FORGIVE ME (cover up my sins)
IRHAMNEE- COMES FROM root word mercy
LEE-me
HAVE MERCY ON ME
There is a connection between forgiveness and mercy (we will learn tomorrow)
WAHDINEE-
WAH-AND
IHDINEE- GUIDEME
O ALLAH FORGIVE ME, HAVE MERCY ON ME, AND GUIDE ME
WAJBOORNI-
JABR- to apply pressure, to correct, FIX ME!
WE DON’T ASK FOR DIFFUCLTY BUT WHEN DIFFICULTY DOES COME UPON US its important to understand any limited amount of difficulty we deal with in this life is MUCHHHH better than the difficulty of the next life. That’s why people get difficulties in this life
Difficulty is a BLESSING FOR A LOT OF PEOPLE, ITS A BLESSING, IT REMOVES OUR SINS,
We shouldn’t whine and complain, we don’t ask for difficulty.
We ask for
AAFINI
AAFI- comes from afoo means TO OVERLOOK SOMETHING, TO DISREGARD SOMETHING
To remove hardship, away from me, free me from difficulty, make it easy for me
WA RA ZOOKNI
Oorkook- comes from root word RIZQ, (means sustenance)
Oorzook means GIVE SUSTANANCE
PROVIDE FOR ME SUSTINANCE ME
WA RA FA’NI
COMES FROM WORD RA FA ‘A which means to RAISE ME
Raise my status!
WE HAVE AMBITION IN DUNYA, ITS IMPORTANT TO HAVE AMBITION IN DEEN!
Not only make us righteous, make us THE LEADERS of the righteous
MAKE US THE MOST PIOUS OF THE PIOUS
THE HIGHEST LEVELS OF JANNAH
This is not arrogance, wanting to be THE BEST OF THE BEST
WORD RIZQ IN QURAN
RIZQ- the word rizq in the Quran used in a very interesting way
INSERT QURANIC AYAH
Allah tell us
WAKHTILAFILAYLIWANAHAAR
“And that which Allah has sent down, from the sky, “
What does Allah send down from the sky? RAIN
From sustenance. , Allah substitutes word RIZQ for rain.
Why?
Water initiates life,
What are some qualities of rain?
YOU CANT 100% PREDICT RAIN
NO ONE CAN CONTROL IT
There is a lesson in this!
Rizq NO ONE CAN ABSOLUTELY GAURANTEE/PREDICT, YOU GO OUT THERE YOU PUT YOUR BEST FOOT FORWARD, YOU CANNOT PREDIT ICT! ITS IN HANDS OF ALLAH
AND YOU CANT CONTROL YOU RIZQ! ITS IN THE HANDS OF ALLAH!!!
This is lesson about word rizq and how Allah uses it in the Quran
WARA FA’NI
Lets look at derivates
RAFATUL ATHQAAL- means lifting weights
RA FEE AH- refers to when a case is taken up to a superior court
TARFEE’ means a raise, or promotion,
MIRF’A’ an escalator, or elevator, something that raises you up
Hadith marfoo’ In hadith studies, there is certain hadith that is classified as marfoo’ , When hadith reaches all the way to Prophet (saw), its called this
AR RAF’A- refers to STATUS, how does word go from nasr to rafa. Whats the highest level status? RAF’A that’s the highest status (rafa nasrjar)
