Appendix 2 NMMU Sport Club Outreach programmes (Summary) Athletics Outreach Programme Summary 2nd Year Sports Management 5km Fun Run, Sport Management Students & the Masifunde Rainbow Run. Date of programme: 10 October 2012 Venue of programme: NMMU Stadium Where are the participants from (area): PE Age of Participants: 18-40 Number of participants: 40 Brief description of activities: This group of students had a project to run a fun run which would give them points and we assisted them with all the arrangements from, The conveners met twice with me to ensure all systems was in place. On the 8th Oct we had our final meeting in the Club house. Entry forms were distributed to all Sports Shops in Summerstrand and on Campus.
Date of programme: 15 September 2012 Venue of programme: NMMU Stadium Where are the participants from (area): PE Age of Participants: 13-50 Number of participants: 200 Brief description of activities: The students arrived at 6.30am to arrange the registration points, finish tunnels and prize giving arena. Marshalls was supplied by the Peer Helpers and the 4.5km Breakfast Fun Run started on time at 8.30am. We have sold out about 300 tickets and about +200 participated in the Walk/ Run. The Fun Run attracted quite a diverse group from professional runners to fun walkers.
Date of programme: August 2012 Venue of programme: NMMU Stadium Where are the participants from (area): PE/ Port Alfred/ Tarkastad Age of Participants: 7-18 Number of participants: 60 Brief description of activities: Coaching in Track and Field in 8 events for all Alexandria Christian Schools in the Eastern Cape at the Xerox NMMU Athletics Stadium. 60 Athletes from PE, Port Alfred, East-London, Tarkastad and Alexandria from the Eastern Province Christian Schools participate in the coaching clinic as well as 4 main coaches from ABSA NMMU athletic club, 3 students and 7 coaches from the various schools
Date of programme: 21 Feb – 8 Mar 2012 Venue of programme: Gelvandale Athletics Stadium Where are the participants from (area): PE Age of Participants: 6-18 Number of participants: 50 Brief description of activities: Took place at Gelvandale Athletics Stadium. Track and Field coaching clinics in Sprints and Middle distance at Gelvandale Stadium for 5 Schools in Missionvale and the Northern Area (2 Hour Sessions x twice a week x 3 weeks)
Date of programme: 4 December 2012 Venue of programme: McLachlan High School Where are the participants from (area): Joubertina Age of Participants: 14-18 Number of participants: 60 Brief description of activities: A team consisting of 6 Coaches made their way to Joubertina, where they held an athletics coaching clinic at McLachlan High School. It started 9am the morning and the team left at 16:00 that afternoon after a good days work.
