Stoke-on-Trent
The City of Stoke-on-Trent has commissioned a major study on future activities for its Ceramics Cluster, which results will be available in the end of the year and, once validated by the LSG, will become the basis for the Local Action Plan. At the present stage, Stoke-on-Trent intentions are to focus actions around the topics of Design and technology, together with the expansion of the British Ceramics Biennal.The main objectives have been defined as follows:



Objectives

Develop the North Staffordshire area, and in particular the regional ceramics cluster, into:


— a place at the heart of the UK’s creative ceramic businesses and ceramic tourism industry


— a place for growing knowledge businesses and for ambitious knowledge workers

— a place for enjoying the delights of the city, the market towns and the countryside

— a place for working, studying … and enjoying attractions ….

— a place ambitious for growth but concerned always with sustainability

The objectives will be implemented through the following actions:

Centre for Enterprise and Innovation in Ceramics — To establish a centre of excellence for the ceramic cluster in the promotion and integration of support of new firm formation and of business growth through innovation and diversification.

Faenza
The city of Faenza has elected the landmark project of the Torricelli Science Park as main framework for the activities planned for the Local Action Plan. The goals for the activities to be included in the LAP are the following:

Sevilla

The main planned action route for Sevilla Global within the UNIC framework consists in coordinating and proposing new system to manage the different on-going activities in the City on ceramics. The objective of the strategic plan will be to analyze the situation of the ceramic sector in Seville and to unify in a single document different proposals of action that can promote a new strategic development of the sector in the city of Seville. For this purpose, the following objectives will be considered:




Objectives

Analyze the problematic of the ceramic sector and the factors that can serve to activate the industry.

Highlight the importance that supposes the restoration and the conservation of historical Monuments, decorative and functional elements of parks and gardens like image for the city, within the framework of the industries related to the tourism

Foster the ceramic perspective within future projects like the Museum of the Ceramics, the Parque de Arte Sacro or the project of integral plan that will unite the park of Maria Luisa with the Plaza de España and the small commercial industry that can be placed surroundings to this boulevard.

Promote new I+D+i projects to the sector in order to develop future coherent promotion actions.

These objectives will be translated into the currently planned actions:

Castellón
The LAP activities in Castellón will be integrated with those of the Local Strategic Plan 2009 – 2015, and will aim at the following objectives:

Foster innovation in ceramics part as one of the axis of the Local Strategic Plan 2009-2015 for economic development, namely through the creation of a Local Innovation Observatory.

Carry out a strategic planning for infrastructure with a strong ceramics component

Promote ceramics as a tourism incentive

Develop the City Marketing

Reinforce the links between the City – the Industry – and the University

These objectives will be implemented through the following actions:




Action:

“Castellón as a City lab” — The concept of “CityLab” tries to translate the outputs of the ceramics industry to new urban aplications. Design, innovation and a strong practical approach are the main cores in which this idea is based. This concept thinks of the city as a big laboratory by reinventing the idea of the public urbanism trough elements given by ceramics heritage while capitalizing individual efforts from local actors to the point where a perfect combination may serve all of them:

— City: A City Lab which will become a showcase for ceramics (a new market opportunity for Industry, a new field for research)

— University: Research aimed to urban applications

— Industry: New products suitable to be tested in the City Lab

Cluj Napoca

In CLU Napoca, the Local Action Plan is intended to provide an exchange and learning tool for policy decision-makers, practitioners and other actors involved in developing the ceramic industry policies at the local level as well as disseminate good practices and lessons learned from exchanges at local/regional level. In particular it aims to assist city policy-makers, active SME's from the ceramic industry domain and entrepreneurs to develop projects ideas eligible for financing from the operational programmes.
